Do I really need to tint the windows?

I know this is an old thread...but just a heads up on window tint. I read last year in the local paper to beware if you think tint is keeping people from seeing into your vehicle. All you have to do is hold up your cellphone camera to the window and the screen will show you the interior clear as...

    Under Mattress Ventilation?

Looks like that is a great solution and better pricing. I had to use the Sailrite material though because I needed a single piece 5 feet in diameter to fit underneath a large dog bed. I am using it in a hanging Treepod hammock and so far no issues with water pooling in the bottom and spoiling my...

    My Van

Nice work. Looks like a comfy little home on wheels. I like your wavy edge on the doorway and the painted cabinets. Lots of creative as well as practical touches. :)

    Under Mattress Ventilation?

Lol, a four inch hole is big enough to fit your hand in. You won't have any support left in your Swiss cheese platform.

    Under Mattress Ventilation?

Well I ended up going with the Sailrite stuff because I could get a single piece big enough for my project. It should work great. https://www.sailrite.com/Moisture-Prevention-Underliner-60-x-90?gclid=Cj0KCQjwk4yGBhDQARIsACGfAesey6gpqFmbQbRc5AAxJfdgTz366P4xY3_Zb8_K6Tn3pPgKc6DNnGUaAvBJEALw_wcB

    Under Mattress Ventilation?

Thanks guys. I need it for a round dog bed, so I may have to attach two pieces side by side and then cut the circle. I need 52 inch diameter. Sailrite has some beautiful stuff in a single sheet that is big enough but it would be expensive.

    Under Mattress Ventilation?

I folks, I remember reading about some kind of mesh product to prevent condensation under the bed? Can anyone remind me what that material is? I found some stuff on Amazon but it seems kind of pricey...TIA.

    traveling for food

If you make it to New England definitely look for grade B maple syrup. It is darker and richer in favor perhaps with a touch of smokiness. The best. Also, the pizza here can be amazing. Still lots of small shops, and both the Italian and Greek styles are good. Good luck on your travels, and I...

    Tips for finding a 2020 transit 250?

Inventories of new vehicles are low right now because of the chip shortages and other covid delays. Also, used stuff is getting snapped up quickly I notice here in the Northeast. My buddy in PA owns a used car dealership and he was super busy last year, this year looks the same. Everyone is...

Best FOLDING awning support beams for a minivan?

Get some roof racks so there is something to attach to that is not the vehicle body panels. That should help with rubbing issues. Maybe you can find some folding tent poles for your outboard support?

The best internet and cell phone coverage?

When I bought my house in the hills of western MA 20 years ago the only cell service I could get at my house at the time was T-Mobile. So I have had T-Mobile ever since. Now I'm thinking about doing this travel thing by next year, so what do you think? Can I stick with the T-Mobile if I go out...

Outdoor furniture to feel more home like?

Check out the Helinox Sunset Chair. Pricey, but amazing engineering and incredibly packable and light weight. I just bought another one.

    Leveling a bed

Should be easy. I assume you will get some pieces of PVC and slip them over two of the legs to lift it up a bit? Just park how you would normally park, then use various blocks of woods, pieces of cardboard, scraps etc to get you raised up to something close to level. Then measure from the floor...

Tips for cargo van door locks

I just got some cheap motion detector activated solar powered lights for my house, and am going to stick one on my van build with double sticky tape. Might be worth considering....link benefits HOWA: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B071HW515B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1...

Sleeping on a cot - opinions?

Check out Moonpods. Just like the 70s and 80s when you had some beanbag chairs in your pot smoke filled van...except these are huge and you could actually sleep on one. Very comfy and warm underneath you too. I'm considering it since I already own one. :)

Man, that looks good. I made a meaty chili tonight with lots of veggies in it also. Medium spicy. Lots of flavor and very filling.

    insulation question

I don't know about that specific product...but check out Lizard Skin. It's a coating that you paint on before insulating, and supposed to cut down thermal transfer hugely. I'm intrigued...

Propane stove - looking for recommendations

I thought about the two burner one, but I already have a small Martin stove, the kind that sits on top of a green bottle. So I have that for a quick hot drink or small second propane burner option. I also have a small Solo stove for solid fuel route too, and a Kelly Kettle as well. And a folding...
