Best places to be this summer!

Hi everyone! We are approaching summer time!  I thought it would be fun to cover the various places to be this summer!  This is great for newcomers to the vandwelling/RV lifestyle, but also good for us longer-term people to find new fun places to spend their summers. My favorite place to be...

Safe places to park in Seattle.

I recently came across this program: http://www.seattle.gov/council/issues/RoadtoHousing.html which includes a link to a google map of places to park @ night: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=z4DK5B6QW9i4.kK0RJS4DHmfQ Figured it might be helpful for those of you in/around the Seattle...

    Google Earth and BLM/USFS overlays

If you use Google Earth, you can see BLM/USFS boundaries in the software using Geocommunicator.gov website.  Instructions/details available here: http://www.geocommunicator.gov/GeoComm/reference/Using_GeoCommunicator_Map_Services_with_Google.pdf You *must* be online for the overlays to work.

    Concession Trailer as starting trailer.

Hi everyone! I'm still researching and gathering plans for a way to stand up in my home, and I came up with a possible solution: a Concessions Trailer. They are (as far as I can tell) basically just standard regular Cargo Trailers, except they have giant windows built right in! Example...

    great idea for warmth

"Friends, if you are like me and find it not quite cold enough to waste firewood but cold enough that it takes a while to warm up under the covers at night, I have a tip for you. Fill a stainless steel water bottle with hot hot water and peppermint tea. Put it to bed before you, and when you...

Favorite place(s) to spend the fall?

Hi everyone!! Fall is approaching (a month away), and I thought it would be fun to talk about everyone's favorite areas to spend time in the fall. You can be as specific or as general as you wish! I'm really curious as this fall I'm still not sure where I want to be, so I'm taking...

Am I the only one that misses standing up?

I've been in Ferdy 2-ish + years now, and I've loved my time in Ferdy (he's my van -- a Ford E-350 extended). I was in a small minivan before Ferdy. I <3 my main man, but I really really miss being able to stand up. I don't really need more room, tho I'd want a bit more room if I was ever...

Military(?) guy in unmarked vehicle in NF.

So I just had the weirdest experience. Yesterday, a guy on a quad stopped by, and started talking at me. I was like I'm DEAF, and try to get him to write stuff down. no go. Today, he shows up in military type outfit (no badges/ranks/insignia that I could see), with a vest full of STUFF, at...

    Living Pattern

I've noticed, everyone has their own "pattern" to how they live this mobile lifestyle of ours. What do I mean by this? I mean, some people carry a bike, motorcycle, small car along with their "house" vehicle and they park their house and then drive/bike into town for supplies and will stay as...

Suislaw National Forest -- Oregon Coast.

Suislaw National Forest -- Oregon Coast: I recently went to *EVERY* dispersed campsite marked along the Oregon coast of the Suislaw NF. There are only a handful on the MVUSM(Motor Vehicle Use Map). How many can you actually use? 1. Exactly 1, it's about 4 miles in from hwy 101 along a gravel...

    FYI - Propane in California.

I had to refill my propane tank last week (first time since the RTR!). Anyways, I went to 3 or 4 different propane refill places, and they all said they wouldn't refill my tank, because it's apparently illegal now in California to have propane tanks in any 'passenger area'. So they aren't even...

Awesome way to add a motorcycle to your rig?

http://trailerinabag.com/trailers.html It's a foldable trailer you can carry a motorcycle with. I miss my motorcycle, it would also cut down a lot on the cost of those in-town trips! With Love, Tara

Finding safe places for Cargo Vans.

Hi!<br><br>So, I'm in a cargo van, but it probably applies to other vehicle types to some degree, but I thought I'd share how I find places when in cities.<br><br>I have come to prefer industrial type areas, they tend to be like ghost towns at night, and usually police/everyone doesn't really...

    Keeping supplied.

I grew up out in the country, but I've been living in cities most of my adult life, and now I'm back out wanting to get into the country, and every time I go park on BLM land, or NF or whatever, it seems I'm always low on something or other and have to cut my time short, to head in for...

    Being level

Hey everyone. I am putting this in the Stealth section even tho it could potentially apply in other forums, because for me, I only really have issues with being level on city streets. So, here is the issue, it turns out most every street in existence now is humped, taller in the middle of the...
