It is hopefully going to be a very pleasant week. The weather is warming up and some low 70 degree highs are in the forecast. Friends are dropping by this weekend, a campfire with desert on the menu. I hope to spend a day later in the week on a drive down and back to Yuma including a walk into Mexico, a medical tourism trip😱. Nothing serious, my primary need is a new eyeglass prescription, and new lenses made.

Time for work, I have Etsy orders to get ready to ship out and a trip to the post office. Then chores to do to get ready for my visitors.

Ok all you who are getting coal for Christmas this year Lets fire up the grill and drink something fermented and sing really bad songs all day

...a very real thing, it is not an urban legend...
.
Going on my new rësúmê.
Thanks!

In Scandinavia, would that be 'rèsòömē'?

I just heard back from several Alert Readers in Australia.
Apparently, according to unsubstantiated rumors, the word is generally shunted aside in favor of:
* "Ahright, mate!, let's have another beerski!"

I may be moving to Australia.

you must have already gotten well into the fermented drinks before you posted! Otherwise you would have remembered you wait until New Years Eve for the party plan, Then use those Christmas, stocking, coals to fire up the grill and do the traditional group drunk sing alongs at midnight. The person who got the most coals gets free drinks all night 🤣

This week I can’t seem to make myself get up early, get in my car and drive the 90 minutes or so to Los Algodones to get new eyeglasses made. It just makes for a way too long day?

Do not do this year what you can put off until next year🤔 yes it certainly is looking that way. I do not want to go there during the week of Christmas or the days between Christmas and New Years. Too many people off work on school vacation days or doing pre or post Christmas shopping. I am instead choosing Procrastination!

Nope not waiting that long

Just get it done and over with!
Nope,
just learning NOT to plan anything. It appears that when I do someone in my family gets in a bad way. Broken leg, cancer's yea at least 4, heart failure, kidney failure, antiflactic shock, Alzheimer's, and car crashes. So no more planning just doing...

This is crazy what's happening with kit foxes this year. In another spot one is all over the place because I cooked meat soup. I followed it to take a look and it came up so close like some kind of pet cat. Then took a beeline towards my legs but not like it wanted to bite just being curious, I could grab it, I spoke to it and it moved to the side. Almost tried to jump into my rig later. This is better than when a skunk jumped in. Really nice looking, healthy appearance. Would make a nice pet. Beautiful animals. Not sure how to scare it away from the camp, I wish I had coyote or bobcat urine may be it would help. Can't yell at it I like them too much.

Fox and coyote are working together now. Cute fox distracted my wife while she was cooking her steak while crafty coyote stole my steak off the plate on the table behind her.

Is this for real?
I will try barking at this fox, it's probably afraid of dogs but then it is very isolated place and it might have never seen a dog if it's a young fox especially

I know it sounds preachy, sorry just something I think about sometimes, and I like to watch wild animals too, but at the same time the next human this animal encounters may not be as safe (for it) as you are so please don't encourage it to hang around in any way. I like watching the little foxes too but from a long distance. We have had them in our yard a few times, but my doggies have never let them stick around.

Oh I want to scare it away so that it doesnt get used to people, the question is how. I sprayed mint and capsucum around the rig so far. But I dont think it repels it really. Meat soup smell is very strong and must be irresistable. Once, I was nearly attacked by a fox in OR when I cooked elk meat inside a yurt and thrn stepped out. Once I move overseas getting my own fox!!!
Best experince in entire winter so far!

As to coyotes apparently they are known to hunt together with badgers

I used to have some mouse or rat coming and pulling laces out of my shoes every night when I slept in a tent in Idaho. It stopped when I started tucking my shoes under the tent.

Yep, it happens in really remote areas usually in winter when there are less humans around and natural food sources are scarce. I found it amazing that coyotes intentionally crap on areas humans have frequented during the summer months. Guess they have their opinions! lol!!! My neighbor called one morning to see if I could get the Bobcat sleeping on her doorstep to leave as she had to get to work. Years ago houseboats at Lake Powell had to stow their gang planks at night to discourage mountain lions coming aboard in winter months. The rentals office used to have a picture of one sleeping peacefully in the rear berth of one of their houseboats as a reminder.

Mountain lions...once, when I slept in my tent I woke up to two mountain lions fighting right next to it. They were making sound like fighting cats but much louder. Got out of the tent not being sure what was it and saw them may be 20 feet away. Scared them off with noise and they run away.

Coyotes, they will crap to mark the territory. But they might not be sending a message to humans, they might be sending a message to other competitor animals because humans leave food smells behind and attract rodents. I definitely see coyote poop in campsites. One place I camped coyote literally took a big dump on the edge of the campsite while I was in it and I heard it howling. I howl at coyotes sometimes but so far couldn't get them to respond.
