At the moment, it's the ceaseless screech of tinnitus in my head. And the voices. Oh god, the voices!

Our tastes in music are very much the same, MaTaLa. This morning's wake up song playing in my head was Loading Zones by Kurt Vile. But Summer's End replaced it for awhile after going thru this thread.

Nearly always being late to the party, I find myself recently appreciating Charles "the Screaming Eagle of Soul" Bradley, especially covering Black Sabbath on Changes. I'd say is my favorite version, because his boys do a great job behind him. The entire show is at .

Americana at its finest

Calvin Russell - Crossroads

I'm standing at the crossroads
There are many roads to take
But I stand here so silently
For fear of a mistake.

One path leads to paradise
One path leads to pain
One path leads to freedom
They all look the same.

I've travelled many roads
And not all of them where good
The foolish ones taught more to me
Than the wise ones ever could.

One path leads to sacrifice
One path leads to shame
One path leads to freedom
They all look the same.

There were roads I never travelled
There were turns I did not take
There were mysteries I could not unravel
Leaving you was my only mistake.

So I'm standing at the crossroads
Imprisoned by this doubt
As if by doing nothing
I might find my way out.

One path leads to paradise
One path leads to pain
One path leads to freedom
But they all look the same.

There were roads I never travelled
There were turns that I did not take
There were mysteries that I left unravelled
Leaving you was my only mistake.

Gary Moore, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker - "Spoonful"

If you haven't seen it the documentary on Ginger is a hoot! Dude, iirc, crossed the Sahara in a Land Rover and settled in Africa.
"Beware of Mr. Baker"

I loved Cornell's work in Audioslave. I tend to shy away from most mainstream music unless for nostalgia sake.

I grew up listening to the Godfather of Soul. Before I entered the drug subculture, as a youth, I was much more into soul music than any other. Lots and lots of Memphis (Stax)/Muscle Shoals (Fame) influence. Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Carla Thomas, Eddie Floyd, etc. but my favorite was James Brown.

at this very moment I am listening to birds sing. not the band, real birds. no TV, no radio, no whatever just good old mother nature. highdesertranger

same, all music off like HDR, listening to waves crash on the beach, time to detach from it all and let life just happen without the extras :)

I enjoy Nature's melody as well, this just happens to be a thread about music.

birds singing isn't music?

well I will have to respectfully disagree.

besides the title says, "What are YOU listening to?" not what man made music are you listening to.
