I'm wondering how many people can't watch the videos. I can't because my data is very limited.

Are there others that can't, as well? For whatever reason ...

As long as we're focusing on those with limited resources, I'm wondering if a transcript can be made available.

Of course, I wouldn't expect this if it's only me.

They do have closed captioning text. Seems someone posted about how to scrape the text out.

Guess I am going to try to find it.

00:16
hi everyone welcome back to my next
00:18
video today we're gonna talk about the
00:21
rubber tramp rendezvous
00:24
you're gonna some of you are saying
00:25
yourself what in the world is that that
00:27
is a large gathering I host every
00:31
January this will be the ninth year of
00:34
the rubber tramp rendezvous where
00:35
everyone on wheels is welcome and we
00:39
gather in the desert around Quartzsite
00:42
Arizona and we just have a goal good
00:44
old-fashioned get together the goals are
00:49
primarily to make friends that's the
00:52
goal number one is always community you
00:56
don't have to be alone out here now the
00:59
big announcement on this video are the
01:01
dates I have official dates the official
01:04
dates are January 9th where exactly and
01:12
I won't tell you that until much closer
01:15
and then I'll put out a separate video
01:17
announcing the location and the exact
01:20
schedule that will be a separate video
01:22
because I don't have those yet when I
01:23
write the schedule and when I decide
01:25
when they will be I always time the
01:28
rubber tramp rendezvous around the big
01:30
tent there's a court sites really famous
01:33
in the RVing community and they host
01:36
something called the really big inside
01:40
this huge tent our vendors and they will
01:43
come and they will hire for the coming
01:46
work season in the summer and so I time
01:49
it around the big tent so that you can
01:51
get a job and I can almost guarantee
01:53
that if you come you can probably get a
01:57
job at the big tent I don't know that
02:00
I've ever sent anybody the big tent and
02:02
then not get a job there's a lot of jobs
02:04
available the one thing you want to be
02:06
sure is if you're in a van you tell them
02:09
I don't need to be in an RV park
02:11
I can go remote they have time a hard
02:13
time filling those jobs and so you will
02:15
be in demand they'll be glad to have you
02:18
now if you're in an RV you're still very
02:21
likely to get a job but it's nearly not
02:23
nearly as
02:24
but gum and find out come and join and
02:26
go to the our tent are a big tent and if
02:29
you're going to the big tent it's the
02:31
second weekend the big ten starts on the
02:33
19th
02:34
so we're there the 19th and the 20th
02:36
that's the Saturday and Sunday and so
02:38
you'll want to schedule your time there
02:40
to be sure you're there then that's so
02:42
that's why the timing January 9 through
02:45
the 20th so you can be there for the big
02:47
tip a big question every year is do I
02:50
need a permit and the answer is yes you
02:53
do need a permit it's free it costs you
02:56
nothing you just go in and sign up and
03:00
they hand you the permit and that's all
03:03
there is to it
03:04
we can only be there 14 days so the Weir
03:06
will be the RTR is always less than 14
03:09
days so we comply with the law and
03:10
people will write me all the time and
03:12
say Bob how do I get the permit you come
03:15
there and you get the permit you can't I
03:16
get the permit early please don't write
03:18
me about the permit when you get there
03:20
we will be close to the permit office we
03:23
will tell you go over there to get a
03:25
permit and there's nothing I can tell
03:27
you other than that go get a permit and
03:29
we'll describe to you where it is when I
03:32
do a video I'll do a video understand
03:34
driving out to our new location I'll
03:36
stop at the permit office I'll give you
03:38
the GPS you'll know how to go get a
03:40
permit don't write me and ask me how to
03:42
get a permit you'll know one of your
03:44
questions will be what do I need to
03:45
bring well Quartzsite is a small town
03:47
but it's set up super super well for RVs
03:51
nearly everything you need is easily
03:53
available in port sites so you can get
03:56
water there although it's not free I
03:58
don't know of any free water import site
04:00
if see there 20 cents a gallon or you
04:02
can go to a dump station
04:03
there's tons of dumps at the dump
04:06
station and there are showers yeah
04:09
numerous showers they're anywhere from I
04:11
think six to twelve dollars you could
04:14
take showers there there are a number of
04:16
small grocery stores and they're
04:18
expensive so I do recommend that you
04:20
come in stocked up with food lots of
04:23
restaurants lots of little grocery
04:25
stores but they'll be expensive so come
04:28
stocked up with food shopping nearby
04:31
will be the nearest location where it
04:34
won't be expensive is
04:36
as blight and it's about 25 miles away
04:40
it has good shopping reasonably
04:42
inexpensive good shopping and the
04:45
nearest Walmart is probably 40 miles
04:48
away in Parker now a big question you
04:52
will have is will there be porta-potties
04:54
and yes there will be porta-potties
04:56
again this year that works really well
04:58
last year we had a few initial bumps
05:00
along the way we got them all worked out
05:02
and it worked really well will be bigger
05:04
this year we'll have more porta-potties
05:06
in different locations so there will be
05:08
porta-potties this year we are expecting
05:10
to have a great big dumpster you know
05:15
with a great big huge industrial
05:16
dumpsters it'll be the first time we
05:19
have done that so we're not sure how
05:20
much it'll cost or or how often allow it
05:22
to be taken again I'd recommend that
05:24
please take your own into town put it
05:27
the dump or small sacks around town but
05:31
if you have to we will provide a
05:32
dumpster this year dumpsters and
05:35
porta-potties are all we're providing
05:38
we're not giving you anything else you
05:40
have to come prepared for everything
05:42
another question I get all the time is I
05:44
still living in a house i my welcome to
05:47
come and absolutely you are welcome to
05:51
come you can come in your car and stay
05:54
in a tent you'll be among many people in
05:56
cars and tents you're totally welcome
05:58
you can come and you're any vehicle you
06:02
have that's another question I'll get
06:03
well Bob I'm in a great big class a I'm
06:06
in a great big 5th wheel am I welcome I
06:08
know you're a van dweller new live a van
06:10
can I come everyone is welcome it's all
06:14
inclusive if you have a monster class a
06:19
40-foot diesel pusher or 40-foot fifth
06:23
wheel or you're in a tent
06:25
everyone is welcome we are all inclusive
06:29
question I will get is Bob I'm black and
06:32
will I be welcome Bob I'm gay I'm
06:36
transsexual
06:37
will I be welcome I'm a Christian I'm a
06:40
muscle ostracized
06:44
everyone is welcome this is all
06:48
inclusive if you're a human being we
06:52
welcome you we are all inclusive now
06:55
there is a group I'm going to ask you
06:58
not to come and that's if you're a hater
07:00
and you need to come and tell people
07:03
that they shouldn't be Muslims or to
07:05
look down on this ship because they're
07:07
Muslims or because they're black or
07:08
because they're trans you're not welcome
07:11
the only people who aren't welcome are
07:13
haters now if you can keep your hate in
07:16
your own heart you're welcome but if
07:18
you've got to spread it don't come
07:20
there's another group that's not welcome
07:23
if you're coming to have a party if
07:25
you're coming to play your music so
07:27
everybody within 20 miles can you hear
07:29
that music if you're coming to do drugs
07:31
and sell drugs openly don't come you're
07:35
not welcome you're not invited
07:37
what you're doing the privacy of your
07:39
own rig your own tent your own heart
07:42
that's none of my business is it that's
07:44
totally up to you once it comes out of
07:47
there
07:47
it becomes the community's business and
07:49
we do care and I'm gonna address this
07:53
now last year we had a group of people
07:54
that decided they had to play their
07:56
music so loud late at night that Pete
07:59
everybody within 20 miles could hear
08:01
their music sound carries in the desert
08:05
we're in the desert you play your music
08:06
super loud through huge speakers people
08:10
20 miles away can hear that the local
08:13
police department got 63 phone calls a
08:16
complaint I went over and shut it down
08:19
and I wish I'd done it earlier and the
08:22
police came after I shut it down but
08:24
they went over him and would have shut
08:26
down if I had the next day drug sniffing
08:30
dogs came out if you announced the world
08:33
we're throwing a big party they think
08:35
you're throwing a big party and they
08:37
come out and say well parties or drugs
08:39
let's see if there are drugs don't
08:41
inflict that on the rest of us if you
08:44
want it I'm happy for no objections
08:47
don't inflict it on us don't besmirch
08:50
our names with your activity another big
08:55
issue we've all we've been having is
08:57
pets and when I say pets I don't just
09:00
mean dogs I mean dogs and
09:02
maybe you'll have birds but those
09:03
usually aren't an issue that affects the
09:05
group dogs and cats affect the group
09:08
it's a BLM rule that your dog has to be
09:11
on a leash it's it's a common sense and
09:14
a BLM rule that you need to pick up your
09:17
dog's poop none of us want to run into
09:19
and step in your dog's poop we don't
09:21
want your dog pooping in our front yard
09:23
and you're leaving it there don't do
09:25
that don't let your dog poop on on the
09:28
ground don't let your dog run around and
09:31
steal things if they're gonna be people
09:35
that are with cats and and they choose
09:38
to let their cats be outside cats if
09:40
your dog kills their gear there are
09:42
people those folks cats how are you
09:44
gonna feel how are they gonna feel how
09:47
are all of us going to be feel we're
09:49
gonna be terribly sad I'm gonna be
09:51
terribly angry so all dogs must be on a
09:55
leash at all times it's two weeks out of
09:59
your life your dog must be on a leash in
10:03
the group now what I did was left the
10:07
group every night and let my dog off
10:09
leash and I recommend that to you if
10:12
you're an introvert if you've got a dog
10:13
you just can't stand being on a leash go
10:15
out and and every day I'd leave and find
10:19
a really remote place and we just go out
10:21
and walk and run and play that's what
10:23
you can do the two weeks the RT are in
10:26
camp your dog must be on a leash that's
10:30
just simply the way it is Plaskett
10:35
and finally let me say that I will again
10:38
that I will not put out the class
10:40
schedule till later I think the class
10:42
schedule may come out soon and the
10:44
actual location will come out later I'll
10:46
do videos on on naps and how you can get
10:49
there so that's all to come up now let
10:52
me just remind you all this information
10:54

11:15
looking forward to all of you it went so
11:18

11:23
several times throughout the event that
11:26
they will have gatherings everyday in
11:27
classes every day 10 o'clock we'll have
11:29
a gathering and web announcements and
11:30
it'll just be a good time and I said
11:32
this everyday there are 5,000 amazing
11:35
wonderful kind compassionate people here
11:39
and a few people who are and you know we
11:43
can't let those few people ruin it for
11:44
all of us we had such a great time so
11:47
come come to have a great time and I'll
11:50
see you there I'm gonna be busy I will
11:53
try and make time for as many of you as
11:54
I can but they're gonna be five to eight
11:56
thousand you and there's only one of me
11:58
and there's only 24 hours in a day and
12:00
I'd like to get some sleep and I'd like
12:02
to have some recovery time so I'll do my
12:05
best that's all I can promise you to
12:06
meet and and visit with each and every
12:08
one of you but you really have to
12:10
respect my alone in private times if you
12:15
would please so I forgot anything out of

Thanks, RVtravel. I think it's fine. I appreciate your efforts.

Would be interesting to know how that transcript was made. I'm assuming RCTravel types 240 WPM, :).

YouTube has an automatic closed captioning option in the settings. Sometimes it comes out pretty funny. This one looks pretty good.

RCTravels says he "scraped" the closed captions.

To read the closed captions don't you still have to stream the video?
That's still using data. Modesto because my signal is sketchy and constantly reloading and disconnecting.

Cyndi, I always assumed that no data was used for the transcript which is different from closed caption. The transcript button is the three dots on the far right above the little bell. Anyway just to check it out I opened the transcript with the video paused and left it there for five minutes - no data used so you're good as long as you can read it on your phone. The print is pretty small.

I read the transcripts a lot so that I can skip through the boring stuff. :-D

Excellent, never saw that feature before. Did it myself. +1 for RVTravel.

hi everyone welcome back to my next
00:18
video today we're gonna talk about the
.................

Last year I saw this sign while driving to rtr

Is that the way to rtr?

The first vid is 7MB @ 144p.   The second one is 4.95MB.

I can extract the audio if needed.

Thanks, Jason. As I said my internet is sketchy and videos just buffer and reload, eating more of my limited data. The transcript is fine.
