Update: This video isn't necessarily that funny, but I do find it useful nonetheless. I'm gonna finish watching now.

Ran across a picture of the (free) barbecue they had at the van build last night or so. They seem to be happy to find people with every sort of aptitude: hammer, drill, frying pan, sewing needle. All are welcome. Wish I were there. Van life definitely sucks. Deviled eggs, yumm.

One woman hit the jackpot at the van build. A second woman was getting 400W or so of solar installed on her roof, and she gave away her old 100W folding panel, which the first woman got for free. Nice. Van life sucks.

Send more narrative and pics of the van build. I wish I was there.

I'm a part-timer and had been hoping to get to the van build, but looks like it will be a while before I can get out of town. So I've been looking at some of the youtubers who are there. I copped the barbecutey pic off one of the videos. There is jamie's site, also lots of other tubers.

So, this morning watching some videos of the van build. This woman, starting at 2:00 in the video, just started van dwelling. At the build, she got solar installed and a bed built by friendly, knowledgeable people. Was probably sleeping on a pad in the floor and using a flashlight 2 days ago. Van life sucks.

If you watch he whole thing you'll see he really has something to say.  I watched his video about electric needs and he has some practical ideas for someone just getting into van life.  No razzle dazzle for sure.  Kind of a just do what you can afford to do.

That van build video rubs me wrong. Probably just me but if you aren’t getting work done - or even if you are - I would think that there are a gazillion ways you could help out. Why just show up to be in the way? Hells bells run errands, pick up trash, do something helpful as that’s what the van build is all about.

Why worry, they're all having a good time. Some help, some get helped, and some party. Win, win, win. Just as long as the mob doesn't leave behind a huge mess when it's all over with.

Hey Cam, speaking of the big "P" in the desert, you definitely will "not" want to watch this video. The first singer Rico is darn good. Van life sucks.

I got about halfway through. They were all awful. I get embarrassed for karaoke singers so don’t ever attend. I know I’m no singer and have the sense not to participate.

First guy was off key and flat but they all seemed to be enjoying themselves so who cares. Good for them

Well Cam, I did tell you "not" to look at that video. Actually, I think that karaoke machines must have built-in chips that modify voices so they always come out off-key.

I'm not a sociologist, but this entire thing is an interesting sociological phenomenon. By all accounts, in most neighborhoods anymore, people hardly even know their neighbors, and don't socialize with them very much. Drive through a suburban neighborhood, and about all you see is cut grass. The people are sitting in their fenced in backyards, if they're even outside at all.

So the van build "P" for party is very interesting. Besides the helpers, helpees, and partiers, there is a 4th group who are just there meeting their neighbors and interacting in a friendly manner all day long. Not hardly your typical american neighborhood. Win, win, win, win. Van life really sucks.

The first guy's great singing got me to look up the original song, from many years ago. So Cam, definitely do "not" go watch this video. It's just not your type.
