I have a Toyota Scion tC 2006.  It's super reliable and quite fast for an automatic.
I've been wanting to build a bed in the back so I can rest when I need to.
I'm considering pulling out the back seats to have more room.  This option will save me about $5-12K.

I'm also interesting in buying a Toyota Sienna or Dodge Van, V6 or less.
I don't think I'll need the V8, plus it usually consumes more fuel.
Lately, I've been camping only a few days/year.  In the future, I plan to Full Time in my rig(s).
I can spend $1-10k on a new to me vehicle.  But I also don't want to overspend on things I don't need.

For the next few weeks, I'm going to work on the bed in my Scion.
The Van & SUV shopping will be on the back buner for now.
The Ford Explorer only comes in Rear Wheel Drive?  I've always thought that FWD or AWD was best for me. .

I wouldn't be to quick to rule out V8's or even V10's...

It all depends on the vans, the gearing, and where they sweet spot is.

I've got an 86 Dodge 1 ton Maxi Van, with a 318 V8, 727 automatic. It will get 18 mpg all day long cruising at 75 mph. Many of the Astro's don't do that good...
