Hello everyone, and may I say that I am pleased to make your acquaintance, I am currently living in my 96 Chevy astro in St Paul MN...
I'd be lying of I said that everything is perfect in my life, but unfortunately it's not...
Lucky me however, I don't dwell on the negatives and am an ex soldier who can handle confined spaces and such...
Other than that, I may not post much, but I will certainly be lurking on the pages...
Here's to the best,
Squatch

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Squatch...Good to have you here and we hope to hear from you often.
I can't imagine living in a van up in that part of the country in winter.
My blood freezes at 50 :D

As a vet, I thank you for your service.

I personally would love 50 degrees at night, that's cool enough to be comfy in a thick blanket, its probably been about 80 with 50% humidity...
And humidity is the enemy...

Hiya CS, and welcome to the asylum!!

I too Thankyou for your service, and hope you can feel at home on here.
We've got a pretty good crew of regulars (altho some are odder than others) :D , and there's alot of knowledge and experience on here about vanlife to draw from.

I grew up in St Paul between Summit and Selby near Lexington not far from Dale in the '60s. Selby-Dale was riot central. The humidity sucked in the short summers. 80 at 80 is what I remember. The lakes in Mpls, Nokomis, Harriet, etc. were a relief. Then winter skating on the same lakes. All free.

I always check the humidity levels of places where I might want to hang out. I like Bob's idea of just moving up and down in elevation to change climate.

I was in Ft Lauderdale a ways back and in the beginning of June, 90% humidity at 85F at 5am. I was lucky and was transferred back to NY that day.

Take care.

Pat: A big thanks to you, and a little oddity is always nice, a lot is a riot.
Wayne: You'll see a lot has changed up here and I'm on the other side of shelling...
You'll understand what I mean when I say I come from da range...
As for moving, I have a full-time job and I'm only 24.
Bindi: As above statement says... Riot!

Glad to see another service member on here! I am still serving the national guard myself. Iraq was an adventure I never care to go on again. After 18 years between active and guard, it can certainly get to you. I stay in for the health insurance and retirement. Welcome and good luck!

Ah Iraq, I went twice, in 09 I was in Basrah, and in 12 we were long hauling through Iraq from Kuwait...
The pic is of me on a long haul, in [undisclosed] Iraq and yes, I'm not wearing eye pro...
