if those terminal taps that you posted a picture of are the type that penetrates the insulation and the wire I would not use them. that's a terrible way to make a tap. highdesertranger

Should I be concerned about them? What is bad about them?

they will fail.
what's bad about them? they are made to make taps easy and that's were it ends. they DO NOT handle vibration well at all. a lot of time the piercing cuts wire. removing them often times ruins the wire, then if you try to repierce the wire you are most likely going to ruin the wire.

you've been redpilled

I would say I have been. Thanks to all of you for the time and energy.

That build thread with pics will be arriving shortly.

Not to refute Bob but the Tristar TS 60 has an amazing amount of head room. If I recall almost double, meaning for short duration (like spikes) they will take upto 120 Amps.

BUT I'd suggest the OP verify with tristar on this, and they are very good about questions via email.

I have a TS-45 and my spec shows up to 90 amps for about a minute. I really believe Tristar has built these controllers using old fashion build it like a brick s__t house design. Solid and tough./

my 2 cents.

Was that picture taken at your place ??? ;)
I think I saw one like that in a campground once! :p
