This spring, we had just packed up and left our camp way up Wheeler Pass rd in Pahrump. It was getting too hot. We MAY have picked up a mouse when packing/stowing outdoor stuff. The other two possibilities are when we parked for the hot afternoon in the shade of a tree in front of the community center, or while overnighting that night at walmart to pick up our grocery order. When we woke in the parking lot, there was mouse poop on our table, and torn, missing bits from the pareo that is the dinette window curtain.
We broke out glue traps for the drive to Tonopah, and that night, placed a 5 gallon bucket with a few inches of water in it below the edge of the table. I flattened a quarter of a TP roll, put a small smear of peanut butter inside one end, and balanced the tube hanging off the table above the bucket. We also put glue traps along walls and in corners.
Less than an hour after going to bed, there was a mouse and soggy TP roll in the bucket.
Next day, we were emptying every cabinet and scrubbing and disinfecting the whole of everything. X was doing the front closet and found my missing bits of pareo -- and three naked little mouseling infants. EWWWWWWW
I would use that peanut butter bucket trap again. Never had any luck with glue traps (but if I did, I would def bash their little skulls rather than let them suffer long).
