Shower and Bathtub on the road

I have “issues” with using bathrooms on a regular basis that are not my exclusive domain.

So I have a 2-gallon porta potty and urinal once I use all the laundry detergent in a 75-ounce bottle. The urinal does double duty in applying a natural based organic perimeter pesticide treatment as a wildlife deterrent.

I tossed around the idea of a shower and/or loo tent but I was reluctant to buy do to the hassle of storage, being destroyed by wildlife, inability to bug out ASAP, wind and weather, constant erection and disassembly, and having to leave the safety of my weather and bear, snake proof hard sided cabin.

So I have decided on getting Advanced Elements 2.5 Gallon Summer Shower / Solar Shower for $19. My bathtub will be a huge plastic tote 42”lx20”wx17”h with concave lid which I happen to have in stock.

I am able to store this tote under my platform bed saving space by putting smaller totes inside.

When it’s bath time I load up two gallons of water from my six gallon dedicated bath jug and let the sun heat up the water. After 3-4 hours or about 3pm I place the shower on a HD hook as far up as possible on the rear passenger sidewall of my truck cap.

I then dig the bathtub out of storage and place the tub on the passenger side rear lengthwise along the tailgate. I then close the rear door install the privacy shields/insulation over the front and rear windows. Next I turn my electric LED lantern on amber night light mode, light up a cone incense in fresh linen scent, then it’s Calgon take me away time.

When I am done I exit the tub and dry off standing on the concave lid (which has been previously set in place between the tub and bed platform) to towel off. I then change into fresh laundered clothes (mostly Columbia PGF sportswear) that has been prehung on hangers along the front wall passenger side.

When dressed I dump the water from the lid into the tub. Then using a plastic funnel with an internal screen I dump the old bath water into the top tank of my porta potty. I then open the camper and place the tub and lid in the sunshine to dry completely before stowing it back under the bed platform.

If anyone has any questions I can send a video with step-by-step instructions. Just contact me using the private message feature.

No violin music ?:p

Quick wash: (no incense version)
Dissolve a half spoonful of borax (Borateem)(is anti-fungal) in water.
Thoroughly moisten a washcloth.
Wash face/neck, underarms, then crotch.
Air dry.

Water wash: (strawberry incense version- can substitute w/ patchouli):p
Warm a gallon of water in sun til very warm.
Stand in private area (hula hoop w/ shower curtain is good)
Wet hair. Shampoo hair.
Wet washcloth. Wash body in this order:
face, neck, arms, stomach, legs, underarms, crotch, feet
Rinse with remaining water.

:D just funnin ya

Edit: I forgot to add the mood music usually something by Roxy Music or Savage Garden.

Don't get borax in your eyes. Rinse thoroughly if you do.
Also -- let the bath water evaporate and save storage area.
Let urine evaporate, too, -- one deposit is sufficient to repel animals -- multiple deposits are sufficient to repel humans

1/2 gallon in washpan wash down as far as possible then wash up as far as possible then wash possible.

Turn on 10 gallon electric water heater 15 minutes in advance of shower. Turn off water heater. Set shower temps as hot as I can stand it. Soap up, wash hair and stay in shower until the water starts to cool down (about 15 to 20 minutes). Get out & dry off. I love having my own shower on full hookups! ;)

I'm with Compassrose cept my tank is only 6 gallons so I only get about ten minutes. I clean the restrooms until the busy season starts. Monday is my heavy cleaning day when I scrub out the campground showers after the busy weekend. Monday night, I will take my half hour hot as I can stand it shower. Thank you Travlinman for a description that is appropriate for mixed company. Some posts on this site are a bit TMI.

Decodancer, I can recall when I was 12 yrs. old and my Grandma telling me about "field showers". She'd say,"You get a rag and some water, wash down as far as possible then wash up as far as possible then wash possible".
It didn't really become funny to me till a few years later....

As a couple, clean "possibles" are really important :D
And, as a single, an un-attended "possible" is going to make what might possible become impossible :D

My mom used to call it a "whore's bath" :D

My mom used to call it a spit bath. I'm not sure which one I prefer it called but I would rather not take either one!

ok -- ok -- what's TMI, decodancer??
if you had said TMD --
oh -- ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh --
too much information --
now -- I have to get the other joke about washing all the way up

This reminds me of the time I asked my grandmother --
"what did you do in the winter without washing machines?"
she said
we turned the bed -- turned the quilts until we used all four sides,
then washed on a warm day -- sometimes things got freeze-dried

uh -- that's changing the subject a bit, i guess

Starlight...hope that one didn't keep you awake thinking about it :D

Wash down to there, and wash up to there, and then wash there.

But wash dem dirty feet last tho ;)
