My other "regular" vehicle is a car. I'm thinking of adding a radar detector to it. An installer told me the Escort brand is particularly good. For $500, it better be. Anyone else have a radar detector installed? If installed to your car, do you normally always leave the radar detector on the windshield, or do you remove it when parked? I'm guessing it's best to remove to help prevent theft.

Opinions or comments?

I'd hide the dern thing when parked. But even better, watch your speed and save the 5 bills....speed limits are not only for your safety, but for mine as well. Keep in mind that some of us are driving huge rigs and hotrodders play havoc on our nerves, especially those who have to zoom up into the safety zone in front of my 14000 lb bumper (thus, the big airhorns behind the grill).

Also, those are not legal in many states.

I've driven many years and never had a speeding ticket...always got where I was going on time without racing. Spend the money on something fun or actually useful.

Just my thoughts :D

This one particular freeway that I frequent, the limit is 65, but peeps normally drive 80 to 85. That means I have to drive *nearly* that fast just so they don't run over me, haha! :p

By the way, surprisingly I see a lot of Class A RVs going faster than my van is able to! My van is over-weighted and under-powered, and those new(er) Class As must have a lot of power compared to my van.

THIS!! ^^^

I'd drive at 70 and you won't hafta worry about the LEO's...and you won't be going so much slower then the rest of the mob to be a traffic hazzard. Who cares how fast the nuts are going. They're usually driving high performance cars and are NOT carrying a load. Take a good look at their faces....they're just feeding their own egos, nothing else.

Also, if your van is overloaded already, then you might not wanna be overdriving your stopping capabilitites either.

Anymore, I stay within 5 mph of the posted limits. Skrew the rest of the maniacs. I'm gonna make it home safe & sound, with all my money in tact....(not to mention my nerves.) It's just not worth it.

btw...I 'used' to have an Escort in my semi truck. They're onna the best ones made.

Correct. For the Bimmer. CHP love to give out tickets to sports cars.

As for the van, I'd be lucky if my van can even do the posted speed limit, haha!

I drive bi-polar vehicles! Sometimes while driving the van, I have to remember I can't power through a tight corner without braking, nor accelerating up a steep hill full steam. One time I had to jam on the brakes last second at a Target store indoor garage cuz the clearance height was only 7 feet! Yikes!! The cars behind me all looked at me cross-eyed as I was backing up in reverse, haha!

You're welcome! As the cartoon sign in the men's restroom reads, "We aim to please, your aim helps too". Haha!
