Mark car.jpg

THIS is not a good look for Pirate Camp/Quartzsite edition.........Markw got to camp before we did .........unfortunately his car sprung a leak of vital coolant on a trip to SanTanSolar......He returned to camp 10 hrs later on a flat-bed tow truck...........

This repair is above my paygrade.........MIKE the Mechanic arrived.......around the forum he goes by VonBrown !

With a new battery clamp installed and a jump pack start.....(and lots of water).....the engine returned to life......

Step ONE check

Here's a problem......Step 2......rusty rear heater lines.......Today it's a parts run.........Tomorrow: Success ?....
and what's STEP #3 gonna be ?

THANK YOU MIKE !........................Not All Superheroes have Hair and wear a Cape

Get the water out and antifreeze in as newer car sensors corrode in water and stop working correctly sometimes.

OMG.................I just found a SHOPSMITH at a yard sale in Q.................My favorite table saw !

I wonder if I can tie it to the back of the van ?
SEE what browsing the web can lead to!!!

Buy it and find a cargo trailer! You know you really want a dedicated workshop space.

Maybe since you spend so much time in Quartzsite you could find some cheap storage or a resident that has a place year round that needs help with the rent?

I think Bob Wells used to have a cargo trailer he used for extra room while in the Quartzsite area which he put in storage there during the off season but since you make a loop most years you could store it anywhere in the general area and pick it up on the way to and from. For me there were several good things about renting a lot/storage at Caballo Loco for $1,000 a year. I got along with a place to park a trailer and vehicles the use of a fairly complete work shop, a 10’ x 10’ old miner’s storage shed (which does get holes pecked and eaten in it in the off season but adds to the character of the place) water sewer and trash a few hundred yards away, an Ace Hardware 20 miles up the road, and Tucson about an hour or two away with all the supplies and stores you could want. There is plenty of BLM, State Trust land, and federal lands near by when friends come to visit. Fortunately the 8 miles of rough dusty or muddy dirt road keeps most people away including the riff raf according to the owner! We have family in the area but it is nice to have a place remote enough they don’t often come by. Lol!!!

Step 3: replacing the blown head gasket.

**Sigh**

2 blown head gaskets? They typically come in a set of 2. One on the vehicle and the other on the owner. 😩

Stopped at Pirate camp this afternoon The pirates all seemed to be napping. But the huge new Pirate flag was indeed beautiful and very impressive.

Drove into last years Van Aid location main entrance. The monsoon rains did a number on that 1st Wash crossing. It is going to need a bunch of shovel work with rock and gravel fill to get it back to be being a good way into the main area. Or just leave it be until just before the event to keep all the riff raff out of the area.

I see that you are missing the Sparky’s this year. Did they give up trying to defend that territory from Pirate camp invaders?
