Sounds painful - I hope your finger heals well. And I hope you can stay put for as long as you need!

OUCH, with a laceration! Usually just a good old smash. Been there done that.
Look maybe this will help you feel a wee bit better, as young adult I was with my girlfriend and a buddy, we got into a small Toyota pickup designed for two and I was in the middle so it was natural to let my arm lay out across the back of the drivers seat and my GF was the driver. She gets in and closes the door and two of my fingers are just outside the jam. Well the door won't close on the first pull since my fingers are in the way and I haven't screamed just yet when she tries again! OMG did that ever hurt.

Hope that heals up quickly. I had three fingers lacerated really bad by a model airplane propeller a few years back, very serious and amazingly I managed things better than I thought I would.
Take Care.

Thanks guys.

The cut is about a half inch wide and 1/8 inch deep. The top of my finger is numb. I really hope all the feeling comes back. This finger is essential for playing the bass guitar... could be a big problem.

That said, I think I am just going to suck it up, and build the bed today.

I gotta get out of this place.

OAI don't give up hope. My lacerations were really bad and I did have a loss of feeling, but it has come back to about 95% but that took a couple years :(.

I'm 57 and yeah sometimes digging around on your hands and knees is a PITA. Hard on the back, but I feel if nothing else it's actually good for me. I'm no specimen of health but I think any thing I do that helps stretch and pull on these lazy muscles is good, :)

I just checked and yeppers, I still have the scar on my forefinger from doing the same thing.

I slammed the door with one hand and managed to get the first finger of the other hand caught in the door jamb. I darned near got dragged down the roadway because the b/f put the p/u in gear and was about to drive off. People on the his side of the van were yelling at him to stop. I was in such pain that I couldn't open the door back up.

City girl that I was at the time got my first ride on the tailgate of a p/u truck to the first aid station at the fairgrounds. He wouldn't let me in the cab because I was bleeding so badly...yes, he's an ex.... :D :D

IIRC, I spent about 3 weeks wandering around giving everyone a salute!

Thanks for sharing your experiences guys. :)

The finger is definitely healing but is still numb. Better than yesterday so thats progress.

First night in the van last night. Couldn't sleep well because of the heat. I think I was a bit freaked out too.

What's the best way (until I get my solar panel on) to keep me cool? Hook up a computer fan to the van's rv/marine battery and blow it directly on me OR connect my Fantastic Fan to suck the heat out of the van? I'm thinking the latter.

Why does it need to be one or the other? Do both! Computer fan should be so low draw you can can handle it.

Feeling uncomfortable at first is totally normal. NOT having it would be abnormal!!! :p

My ex-wife just informed me that if I have a shower while looking after my kids at her place, I have to bring my own towel. I'll be paying $760 a month to her in child support, but I guess washing that towel is just asking too much from her. Par for the course, I suppose.

It is not about washing the towel, it is symbolic. That towel has touched your body and was used very personally by you. She may be uncomfortable handling the towel.

Try not to focus on the inconvenience and let that go. Respecting her feelings on the towel may yield a benefit for little personal cost.

At least you get inside the home.

For example I have never seen the inside of the houses where my son lived. It was strange never knowing what his personal living space was like.

Thanks Wayne. I agree its best to try to keep the peace despite the mind games. I bring my own towel and put it in the closet on a clothes hanger.

Your interior looks very nice, OAI. I have to say that after watching a bit of your video collection on the build, the comments on the still photo site look immature and silly. I'm glad you get a lot of supportive comments on YouTube videos. Nice job on those.

I am so eager to be back living in my van, and it is much more primitive than yours for sure. But, I live out in the wilds when I'm in my van, so there is no comparison to the quality of life when you have to stealth in a city.

Thank you, WriterMs. Yeah, I am 100% urban... in a grocery store parking lot right now. I am a city boy at heart.

I'd love to do some country side boondocking, but with kids and job nearby its just not going to happen. I do plan to go camping with the kids in a few weeks though.

the interior is nice but those legs are hot

I had to slap my own fingers to keep from making what I thought would be a funny comment on the legs -- don't want to be thought of as a cougar. LOL So thanks for doing it for me Gary. :D

Hey.... some of us like cougars.

Oh, right, on topic: Nice van and stuff.
