i just ordered my Olympian heater...do I need to get a carbon monoxide detector as well? I know it's safer than the Mr. Buddy, so I'm curious as to if I need it.

And if I do, any recommendations as to which one?

well a carbon monoxide(co) meter is always a good idea imo, even though the Olympian heater produces no co. if it were to malfunction or you were to get co from another source. highdesertranger

Even the Olympian produces CO if in a low oxygen environment or after the pad gets dirty.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I ordered both and am excited to put them to use! It might hit the high teens tonight in Jersey...gonna need it!

I've been using mine with temps as low as 19 degrees F this past week.

Didn't Bob recommnd you get one made for a RV? Because the ones sold in the biig box stores are not made to take vibration, bumps and extrem temps. Seems like good advice.
