Hello from the east coast. We as in my wife and I live in NC on the coast and looking to head out west this coming year providing our plans come together.
Thanks Bob and your crew for the Great guides in the forum.
We have owned, travel trailers,  pop ups and tents, and a hand built conversion van which we enjoyed all of them while raising a family.
Now it's our turn to enjoy some life on the road we just haven't found our vehicle yet. May be a Class A,
may be a Class C, depends on condition and what it costs to feed the creature.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Steve! You'll love traveling in the west! Have fun searching for your new home and keep us updated on your progress.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome aboard Steve , you have half of this already !
Keep looking for your perfect rig , it's out there somewhere.
Hang out here for as long as you like and get all the info you want.
We got plenty to go around.....whatever the subject!

Oh , yeah,,,,,,we like pictures of , well , everything !

I think WHERE you plan to camp should influence your rig decision a lot. If you plan to stay in campgrounds all of the time, a Class A may work. Or, if you plan to be in the desert areas where is it relatively flat and mostly dry, a bigger rig could work.

However, if you plan to go for free camping locations some of the time or alot, that is more difficult in a bigger rig. Bob even wrote a blog with pics of how his van can get to many places that anything much larger could not go.

One thought I have is for you to check out posts here by tonyandkaren and also their most excellent blog at:

They travel in a custom Class C -- and they boondock in the wilds and in towns and cities. The link above is to their website section on where they stay. I bet you will find it inspirational. And you can think about whether a larger rig would work for you.
