Hi everyone,
I am so happy that I found this page, and it was actually by accident. I have been thinking of living similar to what I found on this website but didn't realize it was even an option for me. My husband and I own a home and struggle daily to just pay the bills and I keep asking myself, "is it worth it?". I am 52 and he is 47 so retirement seemed a long way off. I am totally convinced that this is something I want to do but hubby isn't quite so sure. What to do?

Welcome, Donna G!
I would say the best thing is to make a list of advantages, disadvantages, finances and such. If you can show him that it will be less of a struggle financially to go mobile, he may come around.

Donna welcome. This would be a complete lifestyle change. And experiments fail. Regardless of how hard you work them.

But it is being done every day by hard working , smart working folks here every day. So read and plan and it could happen

Crunch the money numbers to see how this works for you. Do you have any savings or income from early retirement or disability? Many here do.

Hi Donna...I'm thinking he is lucky to have a wife who is willing to cut loose and head out. but as offroad says, there is a lot to consider...

How about a slow segue into mobile living...if you already have a rig you can camp in or get one and do some short trips, etc. until you are sure it will suit you...and him.

Bri

Thank you all for such a warm welcome! What a nice group of people!!! We do have a rig, an older Minnie Winnie. He is the one who got me started camping late in life and now I am addicted. Unfortunately we neither have any type of early retirement income. He is a truck driver and hates what he is doing. He does see the plus side but has lived in one town his entire life I on the other hand have lived all over and feel like this town is closing in on me. I need a change!!! I have read a lot of info about how to make it out there working small jobs and workamping. We would want a bigger nicer rig though so would have to sell the one we have first. Again, thank you all for you help!

Howdy and welcome aboard. Glad you joined us and hope you enjoy the site.

Van.

I'd suggest working with what you have, first, before investing in another unit. You can always change later, when you're sure the lifestyle is what you want. Your Winnebago is a fine sze, and you can do with so much less than you might think. Start cheaply.

Welcome to the group.
