Coming with an equaliazer hitch makes it even better, the seller will likely help you set it up, what's the tow weight? I know any full size truck would pull my 20 footer with nothing more than the EQ hitch

I don't know the weight, need to do some research.

Rob

Rob, the Terry Resort M18-D (according to NADA) weighs 2880 lbs dry. Following the 15% tongue weight rule, that should put the dry tongue weight at about 430 lbs dry give or take a few. If they calculated it at 12% it'll be a little less... around 345 lbs give or take. Filling the propane bottles and loading it up probably will make it a little heavier (some of the tongue weight will be unloaded by water in the tanks and other trailer load... think of the axle as a fulcrum and how weight distribution affects a teeter-totter) Class III hitches are rated for 500 lbs dead weight and 1,000 lbs with a WD hitch. While technically within the dead weight limits for a bare ball, you'll definitely want to use the weight distributing, anti-sway hitch for it. You'll want to adjust the hitch setup so that both the truck frame and trailer frames are level (or as close as possible) when it's hitched up. Every hitch mfgr does that a little differently so how you'll do that will depend on what brand of hitch you actually have.

Anti-sway is a whole 'nother issue.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Roger

Thanks Roger, I don't have any idea what brand the hitch is, it's shown in one of the pictures from the website and he mentioned it. He pulled the pictures down as soon as my check cleared.

The trailer will be empty, I am just going to grab it and come home, I am paying a sitter for my apt and cat.

I am going to try and hit Ca. late at night and be in Ventura early morning hours. I like Ca. but the traffic gets on my last nerve.

Thanks for the information.. Rob

When I bought my trailer there was 3/4 of a tank of fresh water. Dump it if yours is not empty. That is weight you don't need to pull up a mountain. 50 gallons is 415 lbs.

Good point, Danny, thanks. I've told the man I bought the trailer from I would buy him lunch, he has been extremely helpful. After lunch I am making my break towards Az.

Rob

How long, after you get your trailer, are you staying in your apartment, Rob?

I will need a month to get the mailing address and details taken care of. The Post Office doesn't do mail forwarding from extended stay motels like Budget Suites. So I have work that out.

Minor details about carrying my mobility scooter or buying a lightweight one I can put in the trailer while traveling. Just BS details.

Rob

Sounds good, glad you've got your plan and are getting to move forward.

"I am paying a sitter for my apt and cat."

Good luck in picking up your new to you trailer and ALL is well with it and it handles well.

Also PLEASE tell me you are not leaving your neighbors in charge of staying in the rear with the gear......

Gunny
The Escapees RV club in Livingston (a little north of Houston) has a very good mail forwarding service.
I belonged to Escapees for many years (14?) and you will find them to be another family and very welcoming.
I always felt so when I was staying at one of their parks . Lots of discounts and other benefits as well.
(I let my membership lapse to save some cash while off the road but will probably renew before launching out of here )

Thanks Popeye, Escapees would be my first choice, I just need to coordinate with the VA and the pharmacy there as far as keeping my Dallas Ft Worth residence. I don't want to start all over with new dr.'s. It gets a bit complicated.

I'll talk to a patient advocate and get some solid information before I screw everything up.

Rob

X2 for Escapees especially if they still do ice cream socials!

Every Sunday (sundae?)
And if you find yourself in need of a hug , go to any of their parks for a major OD !
Oh , and they do have a boondockers group ! They call the groups BOFs (birds of a feather).

I really wish the location of your trailer and a van I think I would like to acquire out there were a lot closer together. Would make it easier on both of us.
I'm glad you mentioned patient advocate. I need to call them for some info myself.

Dennis, where is your van?

The patient advocates in Dallas are good. Dr.'s and nurses both don't like them because complaints are on record. I like to document anything I am having issues with at the VA.

PM me if you wish, Rob

Gunny, it is 400 miles north of where you are headed. Way too far to be convenient. I search out that way some just because I haven't been able to find what i'm looking for in a 300-400 mile radius of Dallas. In the meantime I keep working on what I have.
You might have a view of the Pacific where your trailer is.
