Was keeping an eye on Hurricane Nicole that just came ashore in Atlantic Coast central Florida…….. Florida Hurricane Season lasts till end of November is only reason I’m not there now.

Nicole rearranged more of my fav Florida beaches; Avalon Beach & Round Island both just south of Vero Beach…….

But The Keys r kallin me. I hear them. But not yet 4 several weex……..
jonny sayin yeah my mask & snorkel

Storm might have washed up some good shells!
😂😂 ain’t no “mite uv” bowt it. Locals will have those good 1z scavenged by Monday. I’ve learned to hunt to find good 1z cause I love 2 work 4 whatta I find. Tiz ok. I love the challenge of the explorative hunt & discovery not gifts…….

jonny boi never accepts gifts he needs toil & struggle. That is what makes Life easy 4 him.

13 Nov ‘22 Somewhere on SPI, Tx.

When at Amistad I hang at the Spur 406 disbursed camp area. It’s usually vacant to maybe a few other peeps. I’ve never been there when there were more than 5 camps, including myself. Very remote & scenic.

Then spent some time at the Falcon County Park (above pik) which like Amistad is a border dam reservoir lake. Falcon County Park is a Vagabon Vehicle livin Nomad’s dream come true…….. and has been a known come & go hang in SW Texas by Nomads 4 a long time. No check in; no check out; Free parking; free water hookup; free dump station; free hot showers; right next to a Border Patrol Complex. AND it’s not to be confused with Falcon State Park just down the road.
What’s not 2 luv?
Sayin…….
Left there and another mention on gas prices: hey it’s Texas where gas prices are LOW! yep gassed up in Rio Grande City I think 3.05$/gal half what I paid 6$/gal once in Kali4nya. Drove a few miles and saw gas posted at 2.75$/gal.

Am currently hangin out on South Padre Island till karma says Go! Where the streets are clean and the sleepin is eazy!
Feels good to see a water & beach horizon.

17 Nov ‘22. Somewhere in Louisiana.

Had a great this past Monday , all n all, at South Padre.
Did a load of laundry at a local laundromat but the dryer never got hot so I spent the time having kawfee as said dryer spun my clothes around blowing room temperature air on them. Tried to get at least that much “dryer” out of my quarters. 🤷🏻‍♂️🙂 whadaya du??

Then I loaded up the wetish clothes and drove to a different laundromat 4 miles away at Port Isabel and 25 minutes later had dry clothes! Awesome.

Then drove back to SPI; enjoying the remainder of the morning; decided to wash my truck at the local self serve car wash. That worked great!

Then Drove to a large open area where hauld out my solar panels to charge a battery & that Delta 2 power station as I knew from weather reports wouldn’t have much sun for till maybe Friday & spent some time feeding my face.

After all electrical everything was topped off, well it was 83 degrees by now and since it had become washing day I found a nice sunny but wind sheltered beach shower where jonny boi got pooft & doosht.

Enjoyed a beautiful evening………
Tuesday morning I awoke & left SPI headed to Corpus Christi and Padre Island National Seashore.

Doesn’t Corpus Christi mean something like “Dead Jesus” or close to it????🤷🏻‍♂️
who the *** names a town that?
jonny boi can’t stop wonderin & wanderin

20 Nov. Somewhere near Clearwater, Fla.

Ketchup tyme. Left South Padre last Monday sunnyish & 80 degrees. Weather hasn’t been that great since. Cloudy, windy, cool to cold for the Gulf Coast for this time of year.

My intention of spending several weex on the north gulf coast have been completely abandoned due to weather. After leaving SPI I spent Tuesday & night at Padre Island & Corpus Christi coast area.

Wednesday drove to Magnolia Beach where I planned to stay a day or 2 but weather was a turnoff and karma said keep movin. On I drove to Galveston where took the ferry from Galveston to Boliver Peninsula; did some on the road sightseeing and spent the night near Sulpher, Loozyanna.

Thursday Looked forward to spending at least a couple days at Rutherford Beach La. I love the remoteness and solitude of this beach. On arrival only 3 camps along the entire mile of beach. Weather was cold with a brisk north wind. I hiked the beach collecting a small bag of shells all of which I’ll give away someplace except for a couple. Wasn’t feeling anything for a lengthy stay so after a few hours I left heading into Mississippi…….

Spent Thursday Night at the Ms Welcome Center awoke Friday and while having breakfast and gazing out at the Gulf of Mexico sunrise at Long Beach, Ms I decided ; hell with it. Weather just sux everywhere I’ll motor to Fla.
On my way I stopped at a small lil park on the east side of Mobile Bay in Alabama had a late lunch.

Just before sunset I drove into Florida and spent Friday night at a tried & true Walmart west of Pensacola. Saturday AM drove to St George’s Island where spent the day & night but rain wind & cool drove me on and today I’ve arrived North of Clearwater where weather is forecast to finally improve. I plan on hangin here till Thursday and then I’m going on to the Keys. That really has been my goal anyway The Keys.

Whew! There, that’s updated…….
Next post will be some pix.

Just after leaving South Padre Island I spotted this “board” in the ditch on Hiway 100. Was going to buy something similar in The Keys to assist while snorkeling soooo since traffic was extremely light I stopped and pikt it up.

While driving on the beach north of Padre Island National Seashore went by this pole marker with various washt up sandels & shoes tacked to it. Haha. It reminded me of the Pacific Beach Chewing Gum Pole in San Diego:

Above & below an Atlantic Murex found while at Rutherford Beach Loozyanna. Color isn’t great but it’s not broke and the spines are well defined. It’s only my 3rd 1 found that wasn’t broke.
It’s a keeper……..

One of my big goals while in Florida was to find 5 Fighting Conchs. These shells are not rare at all but I wanted 5 nice ones for my shell collection as I had given my other ones away.

Fighting Conchs at Honeymoon Island State Park Beach; north of Clearwater, has the best color, size, etc and there are usually plenty to choose from. See pik.
Also found a lightening whelk, horse conch (Florida State Shell) both at left and the yellow spot cone at bottom right.

That fulfills 2 of my shell collecting goals:
Finding a decent Atlantic Murex(previous post) and the 5 Fighting Conchs.

Found some nice Queen Conch shells and the sea biscuit far right. I had found a couple sea biscuits last winter while here but stupid me never collected them so I was hoping I would find one. 👍🏼

Above pik is of a casualty of Hurricane Ian I stumbled upon while shoreline exploring.

The weather has turned PERFECT in Northeast Florida so I drove the 500 miles north to J-ville area where I’ll be until cooler weather begins to push me further south where I’ll find myself back in The Keys after New Years.

8 Dec’22. Somewhere South of Jacksonville Fl.

After leaving The Keys, spent a night at West Palm Beach; then drove to Titusville & The Space Coast area where I planned to stay a day or 2 at Canaveral National Seashore but the South beach access is completely closed due to Hurricane Nicole - another of my many fav beaches being a hurricane casualty. Damn it! Apollo Beach tho is still open so will visit sometime later.

Boat wrecks from Nicole at Titusville.

Drove north where spent last Friday at Anastasia State Park by St Augustine Beach and then onto J-ville area where I’ve been since Saturday.
More on the way…….

I'm extremely jealous of your Florida adventures, as I'm stuck in the snow belt this winter.

Wonder what FL law is on those "abandoned" boats littering the shores there?

Finder's keepers, or???
You'd think the towns where these hulks are lying in would want them cleaned up more quickly than what it seems...?

Now back to the regularly scheduled thread...

Not sure if those boat wrecks would even be considered abandoned at this point as It’s only been a lil over a month since Nicole struck and I’ve seen boat wrecks all over the Florida coast from both Ian & Nicole and there are only so many boat salvage/retrieval companies.

Takes time to clean up after hurricanes.
Hiway A1A which runs along the coast in Flagler Beach area was completely eroded away and is in the process of being reconstructed ; most buildings tho basically
Untouched. Nicole was a low grade Cat 1 not like Michael which was a Cat 5 that wiped out half of the East panhandle several years back.

I drove thru Mexico Beach & Panama City 12 days after Michael and most buildings were splinters & toothpicks. Hiway 98 was like a National Forest trail.

Boats? They get to them last.
