Where does one pick up a solar stove like the one you are showing? Well done show I might add.

Rob

man,if you can get 300f out of it you can cook anything and they fold away to near nothing, cool

ever try a take and bake pizza?

Not so far in my other ovens though I do cakes, breads and such. In this one I believe It would have to fit into a pot since that is how the heat is generated

I, along with at least 10 others, was fortunate enough to visit Jim on posole day. I think there were up to 7 people enjoying pork, chicken and beef   posole at one time in jims trailer. Yum and double yum. Thanks Jim!

Jim, your cooking sounds great. I am sorry I missed the feast. I don't know that I have ever had Posole before, I may have, my former neighbors were Hispanic and she brought traditional Mexican meals to my house often.

I may need to get with you to help me figure out what I need for my solar. I've read many of the blogs and still not sure what I want.

Rob

I'll be honored to cook and help you work out your solar too. Know of course that I don't always follow the normal road with either as you may have noticed on the forum. ;)

I am in the RV/truck lot at the casino right this side Algodones after getting my new tire trailers in Yuma yesterday. I am taking a break from installing the Morningstar TS-MPPT-45 for the 435w panel on the truck. It's rather warm down here, I may just fire up the little AC if it gets any warmer.

I did stay at the Split rail park for four days. I was exhausted when I got there and it took forever to do anything like laundry, cleaning, etc. They offered a free night the next time I was in the Q if I would do a talk on the solar cooking for them. I showed then to a neighbor today and the sport oven got too hot very quickly. It's limited to 300F due to the plastic lid.

I am finding Max to be as jealous as all the other schnauzers. As soon as I look at the computer he stops playing with his toys and finds something that he knows I'll pay attention to him playing with instead. Even in my lap he will drop his toy and chew on me if I'm not looking at him.

I think I'll stay here a few days at least so I don't wear myself out again. pnolens came today to go over the boarder with me but by then there was already a line coming off I 8. Tomorrow he is coming at 6:30 am.

Glad you're getting some rest. It sounds like you wore yourself out at RTR. Say hi to pnolens for me. How's his trailer coming?

Yeah, loading and hooking up the trailer all the time takes it out og me. Then add in the dog and I hit a wall. Getting rid of the excess stuff, getting the panel mounted and organizing the rig so I don't have to move so much is helping.

I'll tell Pat you said hi. He has his solar set up, the insulation in and a bunch of other stuff too.

Kind of why I'd prefer a van or Class B, but I guess sitting in one spot more often would work as well. But you seem to be having so much fun roaming!

Wow, I haven't updated this in a half a month.

It did get hot in the truck lot, so I put in the little A/C for three days. One of those days the addition of the portable on the truck allowed me to run it from 9 am to 530 pm leaving the batteries at 12.7v when I shut it down. I also used the hott rod in the water heater for showers. Once by itself for a few hours and once with the tanks propane heater for a fast shower in 15 minutes.

I also found out that while the little generator can not take the surge of the A/C starting up on its own, that I can plug the shore cord into it and the A/C into the inverter. The bank takes the surge and then the generator takes over just like some really expensive generators can. I don't start the generator often but it's nice to know it is a option if needed.

I ate at the casinos restaurant three times. Once with Maxine and the prime rib was Meh. Brunch with Pat was okay and I also did the seafood buffet. They were okay but it made me realize that I could have eaten well for at least a week on what I spent.

I took Maxine into Algodones to get glasses. What the barker on the street gives as a price has nothing to do with what you will end up paying as we found out. They wanted $100 more and the dropped it to just $80 more when she complained.

yesterday I took Max in for grooming at Paws and claws. He is back to his brilliant white self again.

I had hoped to do my laundry while he was there but they got him done too quickly. I spent the time packing up to take the trailer to a dump station, do my laundry and some shopping. I realized when they called that it was going to be too hot in the truck and there was no place to park with the trailer while doing laundry. I moved to the River front RV park for a day so that I didn't have to deal with it but while shopping I picked up a case of water only to stress my back. I won't be able to pack up the trailer for a few days now so I extended it to a week for $125 plus electric. The electric I'm not worried about as I won't plug in. I'm not using enough right now to even plug in the portable. They have 6 washers and 6 dryers so it didn't take long at all to get it done.

They will also let me get mail here so I get as much of that out of the way while I can. That's a nice benefit.

Sounds like a nice place to recoup a bit Jim. Hope your back feels better asap.

Sorry you have a back strain, but it sounds like you have a nice spot to recover

Wow, it's been even longer since I updated this than last time. Time flies as the saying goes.
I've never been in a park with full hook ups for more than a week or so. I enjoyed having the shopping in Yuma as well as being able to get my mail at the park. At the end of the first week I was still expecting packages so I added a month and excepted roughing it with running water, sewer and even electric when it started being hot later than the solar could run the A/C. Max had it rough having to be leashed all the time so we did a 6th of a mile walk 12 times a day. Not bad considering I could barely make it to the main fire pit at the RTR. Max also gained many grand motherly figures in the park. They loved him up to no end and he loved it in return.

While we were there Max learned how to heel, sit, lay down, fetch, shake and speak. He is very easy to teach although we are still working on sit pretty and roll over. He loved showing off his new trick for the grannies, especially his favorite one, Barb the manager. She loved him up at every opportunity, we couldn't pass her site without Max wanting to visit.

Since I could get packages I did, boy did I. New 120 LED bulbs for the porch light. A portable waste tank so I don't have to move the trailer to dump. A pump for the water bottles so I don't have to lift them to refill the fresh water. A remote panel for the trucks solar system. Even three bags of Max's fancy dog food, enough for three months. The Fedex and UPS drivers were calling me by name before I left there.

As the month was ending I was getting tired of 100 degree heat daily and when I ordered my Engel fridge I had it sent to cottonwood intentionally. First they said Wednesday and then Monday. Bob invited me up to Ehrenberg to visit so I left this morning and said good bye to the park. I would have left earlier this morning except A. When I sit for that long I tend to spread out. It took forever to get packed up. And B eveyr granny wanted their turn to say good bye to Max, a few even said it to me.

The trip up was fine except the GPS sent me up the much slower California route. I made to Ehrenberg around 1 pm and started looking for Bobs camp. I missed his camp by a few miles and ended up going down a minor 4x4 road packed with softball sized gravel. After a while I realized that even though he said the road to his camp was rough, there was no way he would be taking his new van down a road like that. I turned around and headed back only needing 4x4 low a few times controlling my decent or climbing the rocky hill back out. It's not the worse the trailer has been down and some nice spots are back there too.

It was great to chat with Bob and Terry for the afternoon as Max had a blast being off leash again. He really must like Bob as he would lay at his feet in between wearing himself out running around. As it got late Bob needed to get the new van packed up as they had just finished his build. I asked him where others from the RTR were and he pointed out dragonflyinthesky's site so we headed over there.

So that's where I am now as the fridge is back to showing up on Wednesday again. I found a spot a short distance away where the trailer was level still hitched to the truck and left it that way. I'll decided tomorrow if I'll set up and stay a bit or take the trailer to Cottonwood when I pick up the fridge. Either way it was a nice day.
