Scamp:Tacoma Fredonia.jpgI'm just turned 70 and bought a Scamp to boondock in while I get back to my roots. I converted a 48 passenger school bus in the early 70s and then lived and traveled in it for the next 3 years. Those were the happiest times of my life and I have always known that I would come back to it before I am ended. My "Solarman" moniker comes from the 40 years I spent installing thermal solar systems here in North Carolina where I live. I love to golf, and I will be traveling with my "sticks" so if you see me out there, my wife has given me permission to take off my wedding ring and play a round whenever I feel like it. I'm getting my life and my Scamp prepared to hit the road in February of 2022 and will start with a trip to Los Algodones to get my teeth in order. After that, I will let my nose point the way. See ya on down the road.
Sincerely, Solarman.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Solarman!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the group...the Scamps are cool little 5th wheels...I had one under consideration awhile back but ended up with something else.

From NC to AZ you will probably pass thru Texas, unless you detour north that is, and if you want a place to camp for a night or two along the way, PM me and let me know, I have plenty of room for an RV here, and I expect to be here in February.

Winter weather and road conditions in the Texas panhandle, and across the high plains and over the Rocky Mountains can sure be unpredictable....and snow storms are common, so be sure to check your weather apps as you head west that time of year, and be prepared to change your route if needed.

Good luck!
