Hello;

I have been lurking on this site for months, I have literally spent hundreds of hours reading.  It has always been my dream to have a small motor home or camperized van to travel in.

I live on the Gulf Islands of BC.  I lost my house to foreclosure in January, found a sweet rental but the owner just passed away and the children are putting the house on the market leaving me looking again.  i called a friend who owns a rental property he received 40 phone calls the first day his ad went up, the rental market is dismal here.  Plus I am on disability so I am priced out of most, I don't have references as I have been a home owner for the last 20 years, and I have an large dog.

The government will allow anyone on disability to camp in the provincial parks for free up to 14 days. Moving from park to park every 2 weeks sounds perfect.  For those of you who have never been to the coast of BC it is spectacular.  I can probably find a driveway with a plug in to pull into for the worst of the winter.

It seems to me to be a good idea to find something I can rehab over the fall and winter and move into in the spring.  I have much in front of me to be able to live this lifestyle, i.e. I have never had a driver's license!!!  I have had my learner's many times so have driving experience just have never taken the test, so the next few months will be me practicing. Also I have way too much stuff, I thought I cleared out a lot when I moved from my house but to move into a small moho I realize everything must go.

I have found an interesting ad on craigslist and have sent off a few questions.  I will post in the RV sections for opinions and questions.

Thanks

Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started. We look forward to hearing more from you.

I'm sorry circumstances are sort of forcing you into the lifestyle. Yet with all the reading you've done here, it really may end up being a dream come true for you. Good luck on your search for the right vehicle. We'll look forward to pics and updates.

Thanks Cyndi and WriterMS, having lurked for so long I feel I know you all, it feels great to finally take the plunge and join the community.

My suggestion is to focus on getting your drivers license. It will be a tough learning curve to get your license and learning to operate an RV. A Chevy Van may be the easiest to aim for. Just my opinion. I certainly don't want to discourage your plan.

Welcome. Glad to see you've come to the point of posting.
Its not all that hard to drive a Moho...you will do fine with a little bit of practice.
Good luck with your plan :)
