hello,

last few months I've been thinking more and more about this lifestyle. I'm in California and all I've ever been able to do here by the age of 46 is build debt and tread water. no savings, no retirement, no home equity, nothing in spite of working hard all my life and paying my taxes and obeying the law. it's just not working out for me.

either I'm not doing it right or the system is ment to grind you to nothing and then abandon you when you no longer have value to it.. at least that's my sense of it. probably both aspects have some merit to them. anyway all the YouTube videos are very inspiring and bring a lot of hope and joy to a lot of people who feel stuck, used up, and defective like I do.

also, I'm a shy but very curious person who likes to play guitar, take photos, do outdoors stuff, have sincere conversations and work on projects.

thanks for hearing a bit about me and what brought me here. I look forward to completing my suv build and visiting with some of you someday.

Welcome, willbfree, to the CRVL forums! The American Dream has turned into the American nightmare for many. Turns out, for many of us, mobile dwelling is the American Dream. Keep us posted on your progress!

I think you have the system figured out. I call it wage slavery. You spend all your life working for subsistence wages to make other people rich. Sometimes we have to fight for our freedom.

Welcome, I hope all works out for you when you begin your vanlife journey :)

Thanks all for the welcome! I'll be around.. hope to run into you again soon!
