It's that time of year, crisp fall weather, the last warm  days before winter rears its ugly head. And the beautiful fall foliage of hardwood trees turning into an explosion of color.
Let's share some photos to enjoy, especially for those not so lucky.
This is all I have so far, anyone have any lovely fall color pics, past or present, to share with us?

Last Thursday was on US Hwy 550 in Colorado, aka The Million Dollar Highway.  The aspen were spectacular, the drive itself, fantastic.

Much of Colorado is amazing during early fall.So is Vermont,Maine, and the N.E.I hope to have at least one more trip through New England in the fall before I croak.

Great shots Suanne, thx.
The majestic Rockies bathed in the warmth of sunshine and covered in a blanket of golden foliage.
Even Coronado would be impressed.

Early autumn at my pond. Wasn’t this year...

Great colors Suanne! It appears the foliage change is well ahead of the Foliage map and forecast that was posted recently.
I have been playing with the dates on it hoping to hit around peak in northern NM and southern CO. Looks like I better get a move on.

Cammalu, what time of year did you take yours? Love the colors reflected in your pond.

Here in SW Colorado it's running a bit late. It has started pretty good above 9k-10k feet in elevation.

We'll need some cooler nights to get the best color. As always, a hard rain or windstorm can end things early.

I'm in Telluride, not far at all as the bird flies from highway 550.

Dennis I don’t remember a date but it’s been a few years since I took that photo.

I took this pic a few days ago when I had a couple of forum guests back there and, as you can see, there isn’t any color yet.

I'm loving the photos on this thread. I'm in North Idaho and things are still green. We don't get the great display of colors found in other parts of the country.

Thanks for the added info, DL. I have been debating on being in Valle Vidal in NM on either the 1st or 8th of October. That's above 9,000' although a little south of you. I have been in CO in Mid October before and leaves on aspens gone.

Definitely a big difference in colors, Cammalu. Tranquil looking spot though. :)

Yes it’s a great calm spot back there and it’s nice to be able to host the occasional visitor driving through.

Last weeks visitor said she saw a ghost in my graveyard that’s near the pond. Since I know all the inhabitants of my graveyard I ain’t steered a bit [emoji16]

Cooler nights are kicking in and it's a sign of things to come. Had to throw on another blanket lately, currently at 7000'. However, desert dwellers have been praying for it.

So getting creative to set the tone of anticipation till the full fall colors kick in.

Here's Priest Lake, near Telluride.  First frost I've noticed was last night.  We've lost a few leaves to wind and rain - I'd guess the trees were in microclimate dry areas.  Color started out blah, but is brightening up with the cold.

0925181902-resized-800.jpg0925181917c-resized-800.jpgOk so I took a few of these a couple days ago and a few today. Things are just starting to change here in Itasca County MN. Pretty soon the whole forest will be lit up with fall colors.
