My penny's worth...
Not all states recognize an RV as your "home". I suggest that you or a passenger not have an open beverage (beer) while traveling down the road. Even if pulled over and parked for the night. All the public campgrounds that I have ever been in (FL, GA, NC, SC, TN, VA) do not allow alcoholic beverages (includes beer) in their written rules. Most ignore it but use it as an excuse to boot the drunks out. I do have a partial bottle (obviously opened) of whiskey tucked away in my pantry. And yes, I have traveled with opened bottles of whiskey in my RVs over the years. They are always tucked away in the back of cabinets (and only one at a time since I am not a drinker). In over 35 years of campgrounds in 8 states, we've never been searched. But I have seen several RVers booted from various public and private campgrounds. Ditto for guns. (Ssshhh... I had a state park ranger tell me that I did not have a gun and to make sure that the non-existent gun was well hidden.... sssshhh). BTW I do not have a gun.
Most of the time, the open container is simply an excuse. I figure to not present an opportunity to manufacture an excuse. And I have been pulled over on a back road in GA simply because I was driving an older RV. It seems drug dealers were using the back roads for transporting drugs from FL to other points farther north and using older RVs as disposable transportation. I apparently look like an RVer. Along with my dog who had to climb into my lap to see the cop.
