that is because a lot of the propellants in aerosols are propane or some closely related Hydrocarbon.

That's an older style camper. Probably had a really old propane detector in it. They definitely need replacement every few years.
 
all the newer detectors have a replacement date. write this on the detector where you can see it. highdesertranger
 
Many years ago (maybe 40), I was in a campground in New Mexico, and there was an explosion in a camper (shell/canopy type). One of my neighbors said that a 1 lb cannister had apparently been leaking inside, and when the guy with the cigarette in his mouth opened the door, it ignited.

Later, I saw a guy with what looked like a badly sunburned face. I guess propane and cigarettes don't mix well.

And sometimes it's better to be lucky than rich or good-looking.
