Boondocking in and around Montrose, Colorado

Hello everyone!

I am considering hanging out in the Montrose, Colorado area for the remainder of the summer and then into fall.  Is anyone familiar with good and safe places to boondock here?  I am traveling in a 12 passenger Ford van and pulling a 5x8 cargo trailer.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone with advise!
