Affordable vans with body issues

Here in Frostbite Falls, affordable vans that still have have good engines/transmissions seem to have body issues - a lot of rust and even rust-through.
I am wondering if people have experience in this and whether I should consider them for purchase and build out.  :huh:

Yeah. You want to avoid frame rust through but body rust is fine.

Rust is like an iceberg, you only see 10%. It is the 90% you don't see that will bite you. They are being gotten rid of because of the rust I bet.

It will probably pay off in the long term to shop for a van outside the rust belt. Travel money now versus repair or replacement money later.

This is the Best advice right here. I have been plowing snow for long enough to know what rust does. Stay away
