My bread making stuff goes where I go. I am planning on going to Cammalu's place next year. Meet me there =D

I'm sure I love all wild places. When I started out, I spent the winter on a cypress head in Florida. I loved that, too. (but the alligators scare me!)

When Ravella X gets handed lemons she makes lemon curd. Remarkably delicious lemon curd....a very worthwhile talent. Of course she has many full time on the road occupational skills in addition to cooking.

Wow... 7/16 sheet of OSB for 62 bux!!

Yes, its crazy. Right around the time i was hoping to start my build. Couldn't believe it when i checked prices. Gonna have to wait for a while, which is fine. It was going to be a luxury anyways. Plenty of no build, build ideas out there in the meantime.

There is a nationwide shortage of materials for home building. That is because now, after a years delay, construction crews are now able to work side ny side with each other eithout masking up.

This is a situation much like the shortage and price gouging with toilet paper and paper towels. The lumber mills and sheet goods plants both domestic and from out of country also had trouble getting supplies, labor and getting things shipped into them. Do not expect a speedy recovery on these material supplies. This is a worlwide issue that cant be solved in a couple of months. The prime good weather building season for 2021 will see supply and demand price increases. The fires of 2020 have also contributed to shortages and price increases. This year is predicted to be another very hazardous fire season so there won't be much relief from shortages of wood products from domestic sources or from Canada.

A no build build makes good sense this year. Otherwise you will need to come up with more funds and more time allowed for delays getting ahold of materials.

I live in the area of a large 2020 forest fire and I can guarantee the forest service is harvesting a lot of that lumber, so I don't see how a forest fire causes a shortage. Right now we can't go over the Grayback Mountain pass to get to Oregon because Siskiyou National Forest (Oregon) forest service is clear-cutting up there and maybe doesn't want people to see what they're doing. They will be selling those trees for lumber. HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of them. All usable for lumber and money for the forest service.

They have even cut down living, viable trees, I've heard. The tree cutters came in and cut down living trees on private property and took the lumber - until people started protesting ... we've got angry people here over this issue, and a lot of signs hereabouts have been spray painted over with the words, "Tree Thieves" . . .

There's a movement underway here to have cut trees transported to our community park so that locals can bring in their mills and create lumber for people to use in their building projects. I think that's how my daughter and her husband will get the wood to build a house for their family on my land - and a couple church groups are asking to volunteer here to build the homes.

Off to town, time to pick up an Amazon order. Put in the order for the Honda genetator high altitude conversion jet for the carburetor. Groceries, gas, etc. Found a really good hardware lumger store in Flagstaff the lastbtrip into town, Hom Co Lumber and Hardware. I need to visit their aisle with all the bins of fasteners for a few socket cap screws that have gone missing. I need another woodworking clamp or two. I might drop into the Sportsman Warehouse store if I have any energy left over, they are close to the lumber/ hardware store and on the way back to camp from the Amazon locker. Oh out going mail to put into a postal box as well.

I would rather hang around camp all day but these things need to get done before other projects can take place.

That makes me angry and I'm two states away and have nothing to do with it.

Yeah ago my kids grandmother was part owner of a large piece of property on the Bogachiel River on the Olympic Peninsula.  They were all out of state owners but one.  Well, the one decided to log off most of the property without telling any of the other owners.  Oh man, what an infuriating horrible mess that was.  A lot of time was spent in court over that.

It was sad to drive around the peninsula and see all the clear cuts.  It's nothing new, it's been like that since I can remember, but still sad.  In most places they leave a swath of green along the roads.  Not over there, it's clear cut right down to the asphalt edge. :(

I'm still exhausted...and don't know what's wrong with me....sleep doesn't help....i have an appointment at the Mayo Clinc end of July......
So far many of my issues, like lack of energy, lethargy, are subsiding since I came to understand quite a bit, so far, about Insulin Resistance.  You could ask the doctors about it you get to see, and see if they might be open to discussing the possibility.

I'm doing the "easy does" thing, and one step at at time as far as getting "out there" and feel a lot better not trying to put the cart before the horse.  Did that too many times in my life.  Denise

It’s all rainy damp, cold day on top of my mountain. So I’m got the computer up and editing pictures. Editing pictures from Florida when I was warm might help me get through this cold spell.Problem is with almost no solar coming in I will not have the energy to recharge and my laptop will die soon. This iPad uses a little energy I can charge it off the starting battery. So I’m going to end up snuggled up with a sweater on watching Internet videos on the iPad.

I don’t want to get political, I want to obey the rules. But maybe somebody out there can confirm or deny what I’ve heard. I’ve heard the Canadian lumber people have stock piles that they’re not shipping to the United States in retaliation for our government shutting down the construction of the major pipeline. How do you know who to believe? Everybody’s got their political agenda and their bias. Man by the name McCanna hand said one time “the question isn’t whether Someone is biased or not the question is which is the best bias to be biased by”. So without getting very political is this true? I have been planning to build a cabinet where the front cover folds down into a desk. With lumber prices I can’t do it. So right now I slide my potty cabinet with the lid on top and use it for my desk. Thankfully when I use it as a party I remove the +$&/ to a plastic bucket with lid that I keep outside most of the time. But it is sort of funny to think I use my potty for a desk. Someone said one time that everything in your van should have at least two purposes. Will call the desk purpose number one and will call the Potty purpose “number two” :)

Golden girl, Good luck at the MAYO clinic; are you going to see Dr. Kraft or Dr. Hellman? But seriously blessings on you, you can make it.

This news article should explain it. It's from Reuters. I'm not going to argue about it. I'm just sharing the article

Back again ladies and gentlemen. I just want to say on several post people are dealing with fear about making the changes and adjustments to the nomadic life and other anxiety issues. I can’t remember which post they are so I’ll put it here. You need to watch Bob‘s latest video with the couple Who renovated an airstream camper. Particularly the first video that is the interview with the people the couple covers a great deal of what we all need to hear and take encouragement from. It was well said.

Dang it feels cold in here I wonder what the temperature really is.

Sounds like heaven to me.  We're about to get a heat wave and we hardly got any rain this spring.  I fear the fire season is going to be bad this year.

What he said. And...

TL;DR
Drop 95% of your worries by the side of the road, get on the roller coaster and ride with your hands held high and a joyful scream on your lips.

My youngest daughter was in a college Jazz combos program from the time she was 9 or 10. She performed live on the radio, at jazz festivals, and gigged in bars and at events. She also was involved in community theater. I marveled at her ability to get out on any stage and do her thing, as I have such bad stage fright that I'd forget my own name with a spotlight on me.

When she was a teen, I asked her if she ever felt stage fright. I had to explain the symptoms I feel to her so she could get an idea of what the term means. She replied that she gets some of those same symptoms but interprets them as excitement, not fear.

I recently had to learn to do a whole bunch of stuff related to full-timing by myself - including not only towing my home, but actually driving. Before last winter, I hadn't driven at all for years. Now, every time I feel that tense knot in my stomach, find a fear script running circles in my mind, feel my palms sweat and heart race, I work to reinterpret at least some of it as excitement. Because dang-- it IS exciting to conquer dragons! Also pretty darned exciting to forge my own way in this frugal, mobile, exploring life I chose. =D

Keep yourself warm and cozy, nature lover.

I have to admit I just love these eastern hardwood forests all the green, the fragrance, the animals, the wildflowers.

I know it's beautiful in those forests and it's been quite a while since I've been out that way.

I do like AZ in the winter but it's been windy a lot lately and of course it's getting hot.  I've been doing some work on my van and it's such a pain sometimes dealing with all the sand.

Greener pastures beckon.

nature lover, long ago when I first started trucking my dad built me a wooden box with a 5 gallon bucket inside and a regular toilet seat on top then built a wooded lid that set perfectly over the toilet seat and the top of the box. It had hand holds on the side so it could be turned upside down and used as a tray as well and the box had a magazine rack on the side but it was a perfect desktop when we still did paper log books and a perfect hiding place for my real log book inside the box by the bucket! Lol!!!
