Place your hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and move your hand in the direction you want to trailer to go. Just be careful not to jacknife it.

I never did much trailering, so it never got to be a learned reflex, and I could never remember the rules. So I would just talk to myself, "you want to go right, so turn the wheel left". Easy peasy.

I'm slowly getting a feel for the backing up... but it is something I still have to consciously think about each time. I hope eventually it will feel more natural.

Well.. another day, and not much to do. Washing the van could be a good idea. I'd like to take it to a truck washer and let them wash it for me. It won't fit into an automatic car wash place - too tall for that.

I was just out in the trailer a few minutes ago moving things around - trying to find a way to put my art on the table... I feel a need to get more organized with that, and create something new. I think if I were living in the van/trailer it would be nice to use the space... but in winter? I'm not enthusiastic for that. My electric heater burned in the fire - just now thought about that. I wonder if the buddy heater was in the mobile home too. I'm thinking - it probably was. Looks like I'm doing a lot of starting over.

Going to be hanging around Sequim Wa for the next little while. Combination of some Walmart and casino free camping plus 5 days at a State park campsite that has hookups. The park is all booked up on the weekends this month. But Sequim/Port Angeles is a good place for me to be while working on my build  as I have convenient access to Walmart, Home Deopt, Costco, lumberyards and hardware stores. Of course during the day I can head out to the county and state waterfront parks and stay all day long if I want to. Looking forward to getting most of the build done so I can do more remote boondocking.

Off to one of those saltwater parks along the Staight of Juan de Fuca. Maybe Walmart tonight, sitting there right now, just got some groceries. This one is allowing overnight camping.

Has anyone driven through New Mexico lately? I know they have been strict about this COVID stuff. We got out of Oregon just before all the fires, son is still there and safe. We feel so bad for all who have suffered such losses. Had to get back to Missouri to check on a handicapped brother and see grandson and daughter. But now we are headed West again! By the way, If anyone is ever near Scott’s Bluff, NE there is a little town Bayard near there that has a small camp area with free electric and water for two nights and $10 per night after that! We stayed four days. Dollar General and a small grocery.near by and a laundromat!

That's a nice little campground at Bayard.Anybody know if the border is open at Palomas or Algodones.Need some dental work done.I'm in NC and was quoted a price of $161 for the initial visit and xrays. To hell with that.

A beautiful mild day here in Pennsylvania - night would temp to be about 55°. Rain ended sometime early this morning and it should be dry for a few days at least. Trees are starting to turn a little I don’t know how Covid will affect our leaf peepers this year but we normally get lots of them to come through. There is a web cam for our leaf changes I will try to get a link up for you. Supper was sweet corn probably the last for the year. I am moving to the mountains of Perry County soon for. A week or so. The fragrence Of the woods this time of year is wonderful. I hope you all are well and happy. God bless the nomads everyone.

travelaround:

I think you are wise to keep your options open for a bit...too much happening all at once for you now.

Not my first time in Tribal casino but my first time sraying in an RV lot at one. 7 Cedarsjust East of Sequim,Wa. Staying for 3 nights which carries me through to the reservation at the park which is also free camping but I opted for a site with electric so it is $10 a night. have electric and water, free. Of course I will patronize the Deli and spend a little on slots. Oh 4 bars of Verizon too.

Very few RVs here and the view out the trailer window over my desk is of forest. In fact it is wooded on three sides of the parking lot and it is uphill from the casino.  More peacefull and less crowded than the state and county campgrounds in the area. The state park camp I will be at is just minutes away. I have a pass so I can use the showers there while staying st the Casino. I had driven in to ddcheck it out this afternoon before I made reservations. the eoman who was runnig the office also has a Honda Element and she lives in a Tiny House. she fell in love with my travel trailer that looks such a good match for the car. I will have her over for lunch while I am camped there.

So 8 days of time to have power and get some work done on my build.  It won't  be very noisy work, mostly hand tools.  I am feeling much relieved to find some inexpensive places to get shore power. Now I just need to buckle down and avoid goofing off.

I did find a county park on a beach outside of Sequim where I can hang out from sunrise to a half hour after sunset. There is a boat launch there so plenty of pull through spot for my trailer. Also a restroom. The commercial fishermen were there bringing in Coho salmon. I can work on some build projects there if I get to feeling restless and in need of a change of view. The view from the beach is across the bay to the lighthouse on Dungeness Spit.  Today was hazy as smoke from California and Oregon has drifted all this way to the north.

Still battling staying hydrated. I did not take the time to make a thermos of tea this morning.

Time to go into my cozy place, read a book, get some sleep.

Speaking of tiny homes I think I might volunteer with an organization that builds tiny homes for wildfire home-loss survivors. I could learn something about how to build them, hopefully, next year. I think I already have a good tiny home with my van and cargo trailer if I can get them converted a bit better but it would be good to know something about building. I think this could also involve a lot of fundraising for building materials.

Sounds like a great idea for many reasons and a good opportunity to gain some useful skills.
Building materials are often sponsored by construction companies, lumberyards and places such as Lowes, hardware store chains, electrical and pluming supply companies, etc.  Oganizations in communities often organize teams of workers.

When there was a homeless camp put into my neighborhood into Seattle I organized a team of workers from a local Tiny House meetup group I was a member of to come oit ffor a few days. Our task was to build platforms for tents so that they were up off the ground. Seattle gets too much rain for tents dwellings to be sitting on the ground. But with Covid 19 social distancing it is much more difficult to have volunteer building crews,

I think I finally figured out how to put pictures on here and so I thought I’d show a picture of my pond that I keep talking about camping at. Since June 1st I’ve been here more than the other three sites I use. As I’ve said before I’m very spoiled by the fact that I have short power available and even Wi-Fi from my friend. I hope this work right.

Thanks for the help here’s another try I’m pretty stupid and what I learned today I forget tomorrow.5DFEA12E-B843-4F09-8976-CA0A98D2C41D.jpeg. Well I got the picture on now I need Learn how to turn it. Told you I was stupid but at least the pictures here Tilt your screen.:)

The forum seems to alway post the longest side at the top and bottom (landscape). Cropping the picture so it is wider than tall works for me.

Or just set your. Camera to take square photos.  alxso when you tske a photo with a cell phone the button you push to take the photo should be either at the bottom or on your right side.   Lovely lake, good to have a friend willing to share with you.

Beautiful pond for a nature lover! I would not mind moving in next door. So pretty there!

Today I went back to Happy Camp for the first time since the fire. It was smoky, but not excessively. I went to the LAC = Local Assistance Center . . . . something put on by the Red Cross with a lot of organizations and agencies having helpful tables set up. Got a lot of stuff, more paperwork, got put on some lists... all good. California Environmental Health was there and that's apparently the people you want to know to get your property cleared off and detoxed. FEMA was once again a no-show.

Also talked to a Carr Fire survivor who was working the table to warn us about hiring people without contractors licenses... she was enthusiastic about my yurt idea... she also didn't have insurance and is now living in a rental of some kind after her fire last year. You will find lots of fire survivors of previous years working at places like this. Carr Fire (Redding), Camp Fire (Paradise) etc.

What else? Well, went to the Sheriff substation to ask to go to my property to call for my missing cat, but just then he got a call saying they weren't going to do anymore visits to the fire area (with deputy escorts) because someone reported a gas leak. The deputy I talked to is our local... and a friend of my son's... and he took my information and said he'd pass it on to the animal control officer. They've had animal control people looking for animals ever since the fire area cooled down enough for them to go in there.

Okay, maybe just another boring day for Linda (that's me) but it was gr-8 to be out driving in my van like a real traveler again. I even stopped on the way home in a shady place, to take a nap. I feel so blessed to have a van with a bed.

Travel around, you would be welcome at this pond anytime. You are right it’s wonderful to have a van you can pull over and lay down. For me it’s also wonderful to have a van with a potty. Sometimes I’m in a hurry if you know what I mean. I hope you find your pussy cat, pets are so precious. My last one just died A month ago at a friends house. she was a 28-year-old mustache parakeet named birdIe she did all sorts of tricks, gave me kisses before bed, woke me up in the morning, sat on my shoulder pooped on my shirt, but I still miss her God bless the nomads and their pets.

Finally got busy with doing wiring. I am not working (literally for me) at back breaking speed so the wiring work will be going on for many more days that it would have taken when I was in my early 30s. But I did get through the day without any back pain which is quite a significant improvement over July, August and most of September.

I am enjoying staying at this Casino. Have had some nice people staying nearby. My trailer attracts so much intetest I am certainly not lacking in conversation and human connections. Of course the first question is often did I build it or what kind of trailer is that?

I had a bowl of chili for lunch which was delicious and big eough for both my lunch and dinner. I mostly cook chili in the cold weather months,. I will look forward to simmering it on those long cool nights in the desert.

The weather looks to be decent until the middle of next week  so I hope to get a lot of build related work accomplished but not at a frantic pace. I will be in Sequim at least 7 more nights. Not sure where I wil head after that, depends on the weather and what is available that is free or low cost.
