One of my friends said more people going to Mexico than coming to the USA due to Covid 19! I guess they figure medical treatment and drugs are much cheaper there. Arizona wouldn’t be my choice to go to right now.

I did not get any wiring done so far today other than to make sure after my Yagi booster antenna arrived today that all the cables and cable adapters from one type to another connected to each other. Too rainy outside to mess around with setting up the pole to mount the yagi onto. I won't know how well it works until I get to a different location as there is a strong signal here.

I did get my cutting machine moved off the desk to its storage location under my bed. Now I can use the desk space for other things.  It is a good spot to use my little Gas One Mini dual fuel stove so the first thing I did was make a cup of hot tea. I set the stove on a silicone mat and it is not too close to the ceiling or a wall, it is close to ventilation.

I got a buddy request. I don’t remember reading about that what’s that all about?

Maki.. Your trailer looks nice and homey with water boiling for tea! Hope I can make my van look as well someday. Right now it is full of boxes. Unlivable.

Where is everybody? Are you asleep? Somebody add a verse to the haiku so I can.  It’s no fun following myself. I guess you West Coast or’s are just getting up. I feel like I’ve been up since yesterday morning. God bless the Nomads even those of us who don’t get any sleep
Technical difficulties, all fixed now. A nice day in southern AZ, not much over 110, still warm out tonight.

Maki may we see the rest of your camper? I’ve seen the amazing outside but I don’t think I’ve seen the interior.

Just because the desk space looks clear does not mean the rest of it is ready for glamping photo ops on the inside. The desk has to be clear of clutter to safely use a stove with an open flame. I knew I was not going to be able to cook outside for several days. My buit in stove is not yet hooked uo. I have piles of bin boxes and bags of stuff on the other counters and on the floor too. Eventually there will be fewer things along  with cabinet doors and drawers but for now I have to do the shuffle the stuff routine.

Thevrain stopped and the afternoon while not brilliant was actually very pleasant and dry.  if it is not too soggy in the morning I will start packing up for the road.

Will I head west or will I head south? I don't  know. But at least I might be able find more camping spots  than just a couple of weeks ago since school has now started in many locations. Come October 1st if I wanted to in Wa state I could camp the whole winter season at state parks for $75. With the option of electrical hookups costing $10 a night. But I am not spending another grey dreary winter here when Arizona sunshine is calling to me.

At least you will get to dry out! It is still busy here at Glen Canyon Recreational Area, especially on weekends in established campgrounds but even here we had one handicap and one regular site available. I spoke with an owner of a boat sales business from Colorado and he said he ran out of new boats a month ago which is why he was here to buy used boats, and he could have sold 100 new boats this month if he could have gotten them.

Sounds like me, last pre-winter, and you see where I still am.

I have no idea how long it will be before I can leave this county. Right now I'm still living with the hope of FEMA home rebuilding funding and CA state environmental cleanup on the land... getting it certified as nontoxic so I'll be able to get a building permit. All that is keeping me here plus let us not forget a baby is due on November 30 and it wouldn't be right to leave before then.

Besides, I have been gifted a very nice hotel room by Red Cross and it isn't something I want to turn my back on right now for a vanlife of so many boxes I can't even get into bed normally, and no shower. Yikes. My choice is the free hotel room, for as long as I need it... and they're willing to provide it. I would still like to know where they get the funding to be able to do this for us!

There's a woman I've run into a couple times on my walks who has a big dog - almost as big as she is - and she told me there are people here in hotels that have been there since a fire a couple years ago! She lost her home in a fire then...

I could definitely endure this winter here if I can keep the hotel room, but in the van - well, Arizona sounds good to me too. Don't know when I'll ever get to go there again. It is definitely on my mind.

Today got errands done. Laundry. Check depositing. Paying the county tax collector for property tax... which was just a little charge for a transfer of property earlier this year. Less than 20 dollars. She confirmed that all "improvements" on my property have been removed from the tax bill for next year, so I'll be paying tax only for the land.

Got photos of the burned mobile home yesterday. Sure enough, no need to continue worrying about getting the roof sealed.

Went to visit my pretty cat again. She's at a cat shelter set up for fire victim cats. They get everything they need there including vet care. One of my outdoor cats is still missing. (sad)

Also went shopping today... even got some art paper I can paint on so.. hope to set up some kind of art area in my cargo trailer soon. However... my son will take the trailer to Reno in the middle of the next month, so that won't last long.

Okay, I've taken up enough space here saying almost nothing. Thanks for the time you spent reading this. Your camaraderie means a lot to me.

I'm starting my journey next week and will be leaving from Wisconsin. I plan to spend the winter in Arizona but it's still hot there now. Where should I go first in October?

Maybe now is a good time to concentrate on developing some of your skills. Maybe document the steps to recovering your property and write a guide book for others. Sometimes having a work assignment makes it easier as it forces you to organize and focus.

I'd just meander in a southerly direction, taking time to sight-see whatever there is to see. When you get too cold, head for Arizona!

I’m enjoying my time on the chicken farm farm with the five boys. My oldest son is getting everybody together for Thanksgiving and wants me to be there. So I guess I’m in the van In the cold till after thanksgiving. It will be worth it if I can have a good time with my kids. I had a great lunch with a beautiful woman on Tuesday. The one I’m married to. She doesn’t wanna hear anything about reconciliation so I’m trying my hardest to be Content with just seeing her every once in a while.

Travel around your puddy tat is purrty! It sounds like you’re doing all right considering the circumstances. I sure hope things continue to get better and you enjoy your time with your art and your books.

The rest of my nomad friends out there I hope you are well too. I’m sure you’re all like me sprouting those feathers to fly south.

God bless all the nomads as we all head south sometime soon

As simple as it seems that's great advice. I don't have any where to be so why rush. Thanks!

The area if the Oregon coast where I wanted to be the next couple of weeks is still smokey from wildfires. I don't have a deadline for when I get there so I will just wait it out or else decide to by pass it. But it is supposed to be nice weather for camping in Puget Sound next week so I am in no hurry to leave right away. No way am I heading south until it is cooler or if the tooth I want to get crowned in Mexico forces my schedule to change.

Good idea. This is a great time to be writing something new.
