Thank you J. I did not realize how tough it is to mourn during the covid pandemic until I tried to do it myself.

Celtic Woman"Isle of Innisfree" one of my favorites...

Cheers to you

Bad time to travel but a good time to reminisce while sitting in the sun. Sorry for your loss.

Got a covid 19 vaccine appointment for next week. Right in Quartzsite too! Hopefully I can get the second shot someplace at higher elevation in northern AZ. Just in case it starts getting too warm in Quartzsite. Today I was doing security guard campsitting while other campers I am next to went to get their 1st dose.

Crofter- so sorry to hear you’re bad news. My only grandchildren were to be born in June of last year. They were still born in late May. little twin girls and we could not go to the Kentucky funeral. So I know a little bit about what you’re going through, it ain’t easy. God bless all the nomads especially crofter.

Maki both the place John got his vaccine and the place that I got mine told us we had to have the second shot where we got the first one.

You might ask about that.

I did ask about that. The main concern is not going out of state for the second shot as not all states are allowing the 1st shot from a different state. But it can be a different county location within the same state system as long as your age group is permitted for shots in that county. As I am over 70 that is OK for all the Arizona couties at this time.

After being gone for eight nights I’m back at my pond at cracker barrel. So happy to be here because I got amazing pictures of a white blue heron perched in the tree not more than 15 feet from me. I’m ready for bed, don’t want to get re-dressed and put that stupid boot back on. some idiot has been idling his diesel for the last several hours And probably intends to run it all night. The fumes are coming right in my front window. I guess I’ll close the window and sweat the night out without a Cross breeze. I would never do it but sometimes I wish I had a baseball bat and the guts to break the lights out of those guys rigs. Like I say I would never do it but it sure sounds like it would feel good. There’s no sense in getting dressed and Nicely asking them to move to the edge of the lot because they’re probably sleeping and would just thumb their nose at me. Good Lord people it’s only 70° open the windows and enjoy the air. It’s probably somebody from the cold north who can’t stand the heat of 70° in Florida. Like my wife used to say “some mornings I wake up grumpy other mornings and let him sleep in“. God bless the nomads, except for the ones in that big class c running their diesel about 20 feet from me. I really need a fantastic fan. This little USB fan is nice but doesn’t help much here.

Yes Sophie you are right I should’ve moved. But I was too lazy to get up and put clothes on. I was in my underwear which is how are usually sleep. I had my solar panels out from that day and didn’t put them back yet so I had to take the panels and wind up the wire move a few other things around and get dressed in order to move my van. So complaining was easier. Of course complaining doesn’t really do any good but sometimes it’s nice to get it off your chest, off your mind. The diesel left before I got up in the morning. He did run it all night long. There was a “mini bus conversion“ that was painted in camouflage hat skeletons and skulls and cross bones all over it and the name zombie apocalypse Apocalypse on the side. They were still shut up before I left or I would’ve gone to talk to those people.

Back to afternoon wind gust pattern here in Quartzsite. Of well it could bevrainy and cold, I prfer this this over Seattle's March weather. I did notice Tscon is not having wind predictions. Oh well I need to be here through next Friday before. I change locations.

My ne generator is acting up. Overload light comes on when I try to run it even though nothing is plugged in. The reset breaker botton is not working. Looks like a warranty repair call is in order. I have not run any electrical devices on it that draw enough power to cause an overload condition.

Travel around where are you? Hello everyone have I missed something, travel around has not posted here since 2 March. That’s not like her. “Oh where oh where has travel around gone?” God bless all the nomads including travel around.

Travelaround does have a youtube channel called Linda Book Lady. I miss her too but she did say she recently that she has decided against the nomadic lifestyle and is focusing on her youtube channel and getting her California property restored to being liveable after last year's wildfire destroyed it.

You know how it goes in forums, priorities change, seasons change, members come and go and change in posting frequency.

Thanks for the response maki2. What She wants to do is fine with me. I was just concerned that may be her run of bad luck had gone worse. I’m glad to hear she’s OK I hope she pokes her head in here every once in a while says hey. I think there’s a lot of posters on here who are not nomadic some are wanna bees and some Are just interested. They are all welcome in my mind.

No requirement to actually being a nomad to be in the forum. Lots of dreamers belong here as well as people who just like doing builds or who just enjoy the occassional excursion away from where they live. I am pretty sure travelaround still wants to do some roadtrips in the future. She wiill show up before too long.

Finally got my generator to run smoothly again. That is a relief and a good start for a Monday. I guess I can now get back to finishig some sewing tasks. First task to cut up some fabric to make edge binding for some reflective window coverings. Quartszite is a desert wastelands when it comes to off the shelf sewing notions. Be sure you bring what you need with you. Even the Walmart in Parker is verry limited in what it offers.

My son got to go home from the hospital as his fever was gone for more than 48 hours. He has a long ways to go yet on the treatment for acute leukemia. He is still in the dangerous part of the treatment where his immune system is not protecting him. Naturally that means no visitors and major stay at home situation other than trips for treatments.

Getting restless for leaving Quartzsite now but. I will focus harder on projects this week while waiting to get my vacvine here in town on Thursday. But tomorrow. I will make a quick excursion to the town of Brenda AZ to pickup an Amazon order. They have an Amazon locker there and I needed to order some business supplies. Good excuse to visit a new small town in this vicinity. I also want to check out an RV park there that has a full woodshop setup for use by the tenants. That might be something I would want or need to take advantage of someday.toin the future.

Hello; sorry I've been a no-show at this forum for most of the month. I'm getting a lot of reading done. Things are the same with the property - I'm waiting for it to be cleaned and feeling a lot of wanderlust this month which is maybe why I haven't been on the forum because what I'd like to do, I can't do right now... as I'm just waiting here for the county to clear off the property and I have to be here for that. Sticks and bricks at their worst!!

I've been offered a possible job! Totally unexpected, but definitely something I'd like to do. Nothing for certain yet. Meanwhile I'm studying permaculture and think I'll be working on landscaping/gardening of the property for a long time before we ever get it together to put another home there. Meanwhile, travel trailer living is okay with me. My daughter and husband will help with the gardening and I hope will have a home on the property as well, eventually. That would be nice so I can go travel and not have to be concerned about what's happening back at home. Cats will be fed. Plants will be watered. etc.

It does bother me that I might not have as much opportunity to travel as I'd hoped, but I'm taking it a day at a time. Our world is going through so many changes and I'm glad to have a nice remote forest town to live in while that's happening. I hope that real nomads will come visit me from time to time if I have to stay here. This is not a bad place to be, especially in May and June! Those are my favorite months here. April is nice too.

Since the fire I gained 20+ pounds as I abandoned my diet and ate Red Cross food, restaurant food, and mocha frappe's almost every day while I was in Yreka 2 months at the hotel. I'm now on a diet again. Not too worried about it, but don't like how the extra weight makes me feel and look.

Maki - I'm so sorry your son is diagnosed with leukemia. I am praying for him and your family. My son's kidney tumor is taken care of for now but they discovered he has a genetic mutation that makes it likely he could get another one, and he only has one kidney left! His father was to take the tests to see if the mutation came from his side of the family. If not, I guess I'll have to take the test. I'm waiting to hear more about that.

Now I have to go back to the beginning of the month and read all the postings, to see what I missed.

I saw a new(ish?) Sprinter today at the store and oh man, was that thing ever tall. I can't imagine trying to drive it. A lovely young couple got out and headed into the store. I wanted to talk to them so bad but didn't feel right approaching.

When I first got my Transit with a high roof I was worried about driving it - but it turned out to be very easy to drive. The first day was a little scary but after that, it came naturally. It is just like driving a car - except that on a few corners the visibility isn't good. I have to angle it to be able to see oncoming traffic.

At one time I also felt uncomfortable approaching various van dwellers...but not anymore...lol

I start out with a "love your van!" from a distance...followed with "are you full timers?"
Without fail the people have always wanted to share their experience.. I have had some very long build and travel conversations in parking lots now and felt some real kinship.

As I don't have a schmancy rig I tend to gravitate towards the vandwellers in modest rigs as they likely have experiences on build form and function that are more relevant to me.. but I talk to them all... even the lady with 10 cats!
