    Vault toilets

There is some indication that this Corona Virus is also transmitted through fecal matter. Most if not all of these out houses lack water to wash with. If someone gets stuff on their hands because of the drizzly shits, they will be touching door handles on the way out. You come along 10 minutes...

    Cooking fire.

It was in the news today that a 70 year old guy was cooking in a Walmart parking lot. It led to a fire that killed a child in another vehicle. He is being charged with with the death. https://www.yahoo.com/news/charges-man-charged-girls-death-214517282.html It would seem to be an accident, but...

    What about Idaho?

I am in Southern NV. and my van build will be done tonight, (or rather I will be tired of working on it). I hear a lot about NM, AZ, CO, for the summer but not ID. I was thinking about heading up North in NV.   Ely to Elko then into going into ID and then if things are still entertaining...

    Foam Van Body

Years ago Popular Mechanics did a vehicle body in foam. Has anyone seen a home made wide body Van? One would need to fiberglass over it to make it dent resistant, but the body could be wider and taller like a class b+ van.

    Jamie buildout

Jamie is going to be a new video build series. This time it will be a bit different. Only one vehicle will be purchased and built. This vehicle is going to be given to one particular individual. When I say given, I mean this project is about benefiting one individual. I will explain why you may...

Loud Music at the RTR - split from Summer RTR 2017

Just watched Bob's VLOG. I wonder if there will be a summer RTR. More people usually equates to more problems. A lot of people turned out for the winter event, and unfortunately some of them are selfish and self centered, (everyone should like their brand of music). Bob got run out of his own...

    trailer tires

I am buying a 2006 Hobbi 220 toyhauler. The tires are badly cracked and are size 205 75 14. I have been shopping and have only found a few replacements. Most are load range C. The 3 D rated tires I found are  Kenda Karrier https://www.etrailer.com/Tires-and-Wheels/Kenda/AM10235.html (rated 2040...

    Start battery for house

I went shopping for batteries today for my van. I looked at agm and flooded cell. In particular https://www.vmaxtanks.com/SLR125-AGM-Solar-Battery-_p_38.html It is supposed to be a well made 10 year battery.  When I went to the Vmax site they recommended a 15 amp charger for that battery...

    Vented Kerosene heater

I like most everything about kerosene, except for the smell. I was thinking about making an enclosure for a kerosene wick style stove, and venting the exhaust.  I could also run a hose to the outside for the burn air. The stove puts out something like 9,000 BTU. I was thinking an ammo can with...

    Ford 2005-2008 5.4 problems.

I have been helping a mechanic buddy of mine work on a few cars so that he could get his eye surgery done. I have become aware of a series of Ford engines that may have a defect. In 2005 Ford changed the 5.4 engine. It seems after a number of miles some serious problems can develop. In the case...

    Social Security at 62 + 1 month.

End of October I will be 62. I filed for Social Security. I went online and seen the first payment is at the end of December. I called them up and they said to qualify I had to be 62 for one month first. During that month no benefits are paid.   Anybody know about this + one month rule?

    3/4 ton 5 Lug

I bought a conversion van to make into a camper. It says Ram 250 Custom on the side and the title says vehicle type B2. I could not find a data plate anywhere for gvwr. It only has 5 lugs on the wheels. Most 3/4 ton that I know of have 8 lugs. I am thinking that because it was a conversion van...

    laminate flooring over carpet.

I bought an old conversion van. It has red interior and carpet. I was thinking about leaving the old carpet in as padding and insulation. Then putting in a floating laminate wood floor over it. The parts where it would be difficult to put flooring, like the back of the side step, it would remain...

    Best GPS System

My stand alone GPS gave up the ghost. It served me well. Now I am looking for a replacement. The main function of the unit would be to help find campsites on the fly. I want a full time system that doesn't need telephone or internet connection. I would rather not use my phone for navigation...

    Free airconditioning

I came across this idea that is being used in India to cool the air for free. It seems easy to make, but does take up a large opening and requires a windy condition. It may be perfect for our southwest.  http://www.eco-cooler.com/ The principal of how it works is explained on the web page.

    DIY Thermal Cooker.

I have become interested in Thermal Cookers.  They work by insulating the pot after it has been brought up to temp.  Instead of having to burn fuel to simmer food for a couple of hours, you just keep the heat from leaving the pot. I was thinking that if I made an insulated box to put a stove...

    Bad day 4 someone

I am rethinking my choice of building materials including insulation. Few things will burn as quick as an RV. I took the pic from far away so as not to be part of the problem.

    Boat top van

I was thinking about a stealth camper van using a used aluminium boat turned upside down for a pop top. Something like http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/5525191242.html  Once attached to the roof, the roof of the van could then be opened up and  the seats could be cut out and insulation added...

    cabin cruiser for RV

I lived on boats for many years. I was wondering if anyone has used one for an RV. Something like http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/boa/5251026213.html or http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/boa/5264158018.html   One could pull out the engine and use the space for storage. If the boat never went into...
