Search for "hammocks" on this forum.
I have done a hammock several ways.
Straps over the roof (they leak in the rain) then back into the van.
Bolted a tie down bracket into the roof frame. The gutter area and the B-pillar or very strong. Presently doing this. 3 years. no issues.
The rope can...
Covers are basically disposable items. The elements sooner or later degrade them.
A big cheap blue tarp has worked for 1,000's over the years. After a year or two you replace them.
Check your fuses and breakers?
You are not stranded. The van still runs and drives, right? You just can't use or shift back up into OD?
Any Dodge OD switch from that era should work? Like the others said, check the pin set-up on yours, and look at the pics on the web. Measure your switch and...

My van isn't extended or a hi-top. Honda Odyssey. All rear seats removed.
My hammock hangs diagonally across the rear cargo area.
You don't pull a hammock tight. The sag is what works best, for a number of reasons. Then your body lays diagonally.
Hammocks are cooler..the air can get around...
I would just leave the floor as is, and seal out the nasties with the sheet aluminum.
Tearing out the whole floor can be way more work and structurally (near) impossible to do. The flooring is used to hold the framework true and square. 9 times out of 10 the frame is floored first, then the...
Air mattresses are cold. Period. You need a few layers between you and an air mattress to keep warm. Foam is better on the cheap. Air mats are available with fill to keep the convection down. But normally cost more. And eventually are mats will leak. Air mats do not breathe since they are mostly...
I use a Jetboil with the French press. Very fast at making hot water, very! The pot has fins on the bottom that work as a heat sink. I can boil 2-3 cups in 2-3 minutes.
Taping together several pages of the newspaper will give a cheap template.
Measuring out the shape, transfer to the template. Leave extra as you fine tune the shape to exact fit. Test fit as you go, till desired results are achieved.
If you mess up, add extra paper and tape, and re do.
Ask for a 20,000 mile warranty. Parts and labor.
That should end the phone calls.
Look around. See how many Renault's you see driving around?
Call your local mechanic and ask if they work on Renault's?
