Can someone explain to a non-native English speaker what exactly "I ain't right" or "You ain't right" means? I mean

English is my 3rd language... maybe I ain't right.

It is an attitude that goes against the socially accepted traditions.  For example, Pouring a quart of apple moonshine in the punch bowl at the pasters wifes birthday party. Just because she is so uptight it hurts.

Thanks for the explanations! I think I got it now... and hey, I definitely ain't right, either! :)

I ain't right because mentally I still live in the last century, the early part.
Looking for a form of entertainment and a conversation starter on the road, I got a few pair of bones. I'm gonna be a bones player!
Mississippi is on my bucket list. Most people, especially Mississippians, totally don't get that one.
I hate thinking like everyone else.
I don't keep up with the latest in pop culture. I watch recently released movies, and don't recognize anyone!

Yeah, I sho ain't right!

That sounds absolutely perfectly right to me.  I probably couldn't identify on sight 8 of the top 10 Hollywood shmucks that we're supposed to be idolizing.

That part about going to Mississippi on purpose, though.... uhhhhhh yeeeahhhhhhhh....

I haven't been to Mississippi yet, but I am sure there are lots of cool things to see there.  :)

I was in Oklahoma not long ago, and one of the people I talked to said they had lived in OKC their whole life and couldn't understand why a tourist would want to come there--implying that I "wasn't right".  She was wrong though--there were lots of cool things to see there and I had a great time.  :)

Yeah, actually there are things to see in Mississippi. I had ancestors that died in the series of battles around the seige of Vicksburg, and one that was taken prisoner at Grand Gulf, it was awesome to go visit the places where it happened, and I had a good time on the riverboat casinos there too.

Before I reply I need to tell TJB to please try to restrain yourself cuz adding 5 to 10 to your wait to get out on the road would suck !!!!

Skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh kuh !

I thought this thread would mostly be other people nominating someone to the club .

However it would seem a large percentage of us here on CRVL not only belong but are proud of it too!
The stories of why are priceless !!!

So welcome aboard one and all to the greatest assembly of AIN'T RIGHT ever seen by the world of "normality".....

(I think it started for me when ED announced "Tonight ladies and gentlemen right here on out stage..........
Topo Gigio!!!")

I want to trace the path of Grierson's Raid sometime.

Mississippi is all about the blues to me. Yes, the racial violence and segregation is a terrible part of American history. I would never visit Money, MS, where Emmit Till was murdered for instance.

But the blues markers, genuine Delta blues is vanishing from our culture. There almost no juke joints left, just the Po Monkey out in a corn field. I want to see the Crossroads, where Robert Johnson made a deal with the Devil so he would teach him the blues!

Me Too my Grandparents were born in1900 & 1902.  So I grew up with food, music, crafts and values of that era.

A NEW Style of blues I've found is Florida Swamp Blues.........on you tube.......Packrat Smokehouse Blues.  I gotta like songs with names like Bisquit Roller, Haint's In My House,  HooDoo Woman Blues, & What's Your Flavor Baby?

I like MS, the Delta blues, the rural areas, and the down home countryfried cookin'!  I have a sister born there and still lives there  :D

Haha, the "Just Ain't Right" club, on the back of our vans. Love it!

TJB
We need some stickers!
BUT
we'll have to give Bob the rights to the T shirts......

We need someone with a bit of artistic ability to sketch a drawing for a sticker.

Rob

Randy Travis sung us a song:

"we're all a ounce or two short of a pound..."

:D

I actually had to go looking for this thread and
That Ain't Right.

We seem to be infecting other threads so I'm going to post a bit from one of them now and hope we can stick to the subject like the mods keep reminding us .

(Mods
Remember , we ain't right, but it seems some of you belong too , so how does that work????)

Pasted from Gunny's "Where For Art Thou" thread.
But , this thread is turning up everywhere!
So , try to at least post something belongs to the other thread before proving "You Ain't Right"

Mizmozy
Qualified and accepted . If you know you ain't right who am I to disagree? Jim thinks you fit in but he ain't right .
Takes one to know one doesn't work in this kind of organization but Rule #1 is there ain't no rules..Whaaaaat?

OP and HDR (I can't watch the video but no doubt it's Belushi and the Keeler Beees) both say no to the stinkin' badges so they're out but as we're not the Keeler Beees and if AT wants to make some round ones ,,,they're in !

AT
Beats me why someone would want to voluntarily be a member of YAR but Exclusivity ain't in my vocabulary so confirmed.
The MIB wands I mentioned aren't like wizard wands but more like a tazer for the brain that make the person forget everything alien that they might have seen or heard .(FMI watch any MIB movie)

DISCLAIMER::::::
If anybody wants to really follow this thread , guess you'll have to read all threads (and of course reply to the OP's subject too)!
Oh my GOSHK , herding cats is easy compared to.............being a MOD ! Glad I'm not one !!

LOL.. I always thought "ain't right" was a shortening of "ain't right in the head" as in missing a few marbles.... that kind of thing.

How many marbles am I SUPPOSED to have?  If you can give me the number, I can check to see if any are missing.

For the record, I've already checked my deck of cards and I've got all 52, + the two jokers . . .

I don't have any marbles .
Should that a problem???? :dodgy:

OP
Jokers......... :s

They tested me in the 7th grade and told me I wouldn't have time for marbles or decks of cards ,,,unless I wanted to count them . (I've often wondered what were they talking about ? ;)) Then I went to my physics class......
