What a beautiful vehicle (plenty of room for stickers and decals too).

I clueless to where the public lands are. I only know how to get to AZ. And I’ve only been there a few times.

I’m a complete newbie to everything accept traditional camping trips I’ve taken.

.... many moons ago. But I do like to travel and driving is not a problem. Love being on the road....Exploring new places.

A little nervous about not knowing anyone.

Jeanie when you get ready to come we will bring you in

Thank you! That solves one issue. Lol.

Can’t wait to meet everyone... if not this one then the next for sure.

...Also, I’ve been struggling on which van to buy. I’m getting a new one. Which one did you choose and why?...
I chose a used Promaster cargo van because it was $10k cheaper and I did not have to get a loan. Fits in a parking space. Also, I knew the minute I got in it and could stand up that it was the one. The Promaster's have the biggest cargo area and the high top extended ones are the ones used for expediting freight if you want to get into that. Mine is a work van and I installed a bulkhead so I can shut the door on work.    ~crofter

PS Check out RVTravel on youtube for videos of the Quartzite area. That might help you feel more comfortable about going. Cell service there is great so you will be able to get in contact with the tribe.

in anticipation of issues with BLM LTVA I choose to install a "self contained" portable marine toilet. It is hooked to a 12v macerator pump that has a hose connected to a hose port in the side of my trailer. That toilet is 5.5 gallons. I also have a grey water tank plumbed in under my sink and it also empties out through a hose port in the side of my trailer. That gives me the 10 gallons of required waste tank per BLM LTVA requirements.

But when or if I want to I can switch the fitting on the toilet over to one that allows for the toilet waste tank to removed and carried to a flush toilet for emptying it.

Of course I also have a 5 gallon bucket with a gamma lid and a pee collection container as an alternative if I decide that works best in certain situations.

Where there is a will there is a way to create various alternatives in your build that will comply with the BLM inspections. Cost more than a 5 gallon compost bucket system but easier to do than installing a black water tank under my little travel trailer which does not have the ground clearance of a true off-road trailer.

If you've ever been told "you ain't right" you probably belong.....

Post your reason and qualify today !

Ive always been on a little different track then most. Being semi-nomadic by vehicle at various times is only part of it.

Current abode is a log cabin I built. Former homes are other cabins, a tipi, wall tent, various vehicles, and more nights sleeping out under the stars than I can even recall, several years cumulatively.

Currently planning a cargo trailer camper conversion, with rear ramp door to take my motorcycle and sidecar adventuring and have a comfortable place to stay when traveling. An electric bed that raises and lowers will allow the bike to be loaded, then the bed lowered and sleeping space, and small kitchen and bathroom in the front. Something my 4runner can pull, or perhaps upgrade to a Tahoe perhaps.

This guy is my hero.

do y'all want me to split this conversation about the YARC camp into it's own thread? this is directed at Doug and Cammalu. highdesertranger

I find myself fighting against an overwhelming desire to spend the whole weekend goofing off. It just ain't right to fight with myself because I can't win and I can't lose the fight and there is no compromise because you either goof off or you don't.

Just set a target date for when you plan to leave for Quartzsite. Everyone already knows you. I'll probably avoid Q this winter for the same reason.

ok knock it off. this thread is about why you ain't right and to tell your story. it is not about the YARC camp. I think I am going to split it. highdesertranger

Hey Ranger, whoever you are....You are supposed to announce yourself and tell us how you qualify as " you ain't right" if you want to stick around and read this stuff.

Spying ain't the right kind of you ain't right stuff (with a few exceptions)

example, it is OK to spy on authority figures to see what they are up to but not OK to spy on the "YARC" camp unless the intention is to play a practical joke on someone

speaking of which, that is a good topic,

The best practical joke you ever played, or for some folks it has to be one that you still have the ability to remember out of a long running string of practical jokes that all blend together in your memory

if you are talking to me I already told my story way back and I got a badge for it. highdesertranger

One post out of nearly 20k you have posted. Now that would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Maybe a link to it on your profile page would work for an emergency locator beacon?

or you could go back and read the whole thread. LOL. you know you are missing some really you ain't right stuff. I hope you realize I am just messing with you. I will see if I can find it. highdesertranger

Maki, go back to the beginning and start reading. He’s in there!

I would feel very guilty about reading hundreds of pages of old post when I really should be spending that time working on my build or making inventory or new designs for my business :)

No offense meant, but I will stick to looking at the most recent postings. I can manage seeing and responding to those during the intermittent break times I need to do a lie down to rest my aching back. But I do enjoy this thread that sometimes has lots of humor.
