Personally, I like going to music festivals, and that's the main thing I do. That and just the "snow bird" trips to get away from the cold or hot weather. What do the rest of you do?

Write. Walk the dogs. Gloat about the weather we've found compared to where we came from. Fix things up. Do a bit of hand laundry. Walk the dogs again.

We try not to be in the TC too much, but like to ride bikes, hike, canoe, read, have a couple of board games, photography. It's why we don't go to a bigger unit - so we don't get ensconced inside. Been dry docked at the S&B since August and gained 9 pounds...

When on a road trip, I sleep in the van. During the day, I use the motorcycle as a 'runabout' to town, sight seeing, off road fun, etc. Usually am with a group of similar folks, and have events scheduled.

I have Direct satellite TV. I only watch it after 6:00 pm, never before. I leave it behind in the summer so it's just a winter thing when the evenings are long, dark and cool.

Woks well for me.

I work a forty hour week, sometimes more. After work I go to the gym to workout and shower. Then I have dinner, come visit my friends here, watch some youtubers, go on Facetome, and try to go to sleep by 8 or 9 pm.
On weekends I'm freer to do other stuff, like relaxing. I was pretty busy for a few months working on the van build, it's time to enjoy it now [emoji106][emoji604]

I'm full time. I do pretty much the same things I'd do in a s&b. Work, eat, sleep, computer, clean, read, talk, plan.... What I don't do that I would be doing in a house is feeling anxiety over being trapped!

I know how you feel! A house just...well, it just sits there!

I live quietly... I read, listen to music, watch broadcast T.V. when available, surf the net, clean, organize, and think. As well as putter and do menial things. Outside the van I like to take long walks. On the other hand, some things I don't like to do are interacting with people unless it's on my terms, or being in noisy places.

The van itself has become one of my hobbies. It's old so it requires maintenance and I'm always tweaking the camping layout. I also play video games and when I'm near a casino I play poker.

Thanks for all the replies. Since I'm stuck in Michigan for the winter, and my van is brand new and took most of my life savings, my van is in the barn waiting for better weather. I'm in Newaygo, Michigan right now visiting my daughter and grand-sons, and the local McDonalds has .50 senior coffee, and electrical outlets! This is a wonderful area, in the summer.

I prospect for gold. which is basically work that involves digging, hiking, digging, backpacking, digging, running samples, digging, atv riding, digging, checking ore samples, more digging, metal detecting, digging, gps marking where I have dug samples, digging, checking maps, digging, go to the local bar I find out where everyone else is digging, did I mention I also dig a lot. I also enjoy rockhounding, hunting, fishing, working cattle, horseback riding, tractor work, construction, and generally helping someone who needs a hand. for some reason I carry over ten shovels from garden trowels to full size shovels and 4 picks. highdesertranger

I was wondering if your life's focus was what led you to live mobile. Lots of the things you all do aren't really much different than what you'd do in a house or apartment. Of course if you hike or canoe I suppose it's nice seeing new places. The snow bird aspect is pretty appealing too; being able to get away from the cold.

The main reason for me is that I'm on the road so much, and I don't have anyone to watch my "home base" while I'm gone, so I'm dumped the home base. I also need to de-clutter even more than I have already, and living in a van will help you de-clutter.

I like economical, I suppose that's something a lot of us have in common. Walking your dog, hiking, kayaking all sound like pretty economical activities, good for van people. Bike riding also.

So do you make any money at it? It sounds like fun. I'm always looking for an easy way to make lots of money!

let me tell you prospecting is no easy way to make money, period. it's hard work. having said that, I do find gold. it's natures lottery, you just never know. highdesertranger
