I am planning a floorplan for the chevy express 1500 that I just bought. I want to put my two batteries (total weight 140 pounds) behind the passengers side wheel well. Will that much weight behind the wheel well cause frame damage eventually?

It would be best to distribute the weight evenly but 140 lbs is nothing for a 1/2 ton van.
I think the worst that would happen is maybe you might notice a slight diffrence in handling but probably nothing significant. It won't hurt the frame.

One passenger in the seat could weigh more than that.

Thanks for the answers. My kitchen is on the other side so I am trying to even up the weight by putting the batteries on the passenger's side. I just wasn't sure about that much weight behind the back wheel, in one spot.

I miss understood. Thought you were putting battery behind front wheel.
Most weight should go between all 4 wheels. Lot of weight behind a rear wheel or on a hitch like one of those carryall things can lead to handling problems. Just have to plan carefully

Zero problem.

Yes everything should be as light as possible, and between the axles is better.

But unless you go LFP, a big bank needs to be heavy.

Water and propane are the next heaviest inevitables
