I finally pulled the trigger on Visible tonight. They released an affordable android for 99. bucks plus tax including shipping and the Visible sim.

The phone is called an R2. It should be at least as capable as my Samsung 2017 J7. I've been paying 50. a month for "unlimited" w/5gigs as a hotspot via MetroPcs so truly unlimited data with unlimited use as a hotspot for 40. bucks a month is a no brainer. The phone will pay for itself in 10 months.

I stream a LOT. Metro throttles speed after about 23 gigs I believe. I don't think they should be legally allowed to call it unlimited but that's another subject. Visible is truly unlimited but at 5mpb. When I had my 3G Verizon hotspot it was more than adequate for my needs. I have to assume the Visible 4G LTE will be a bit quicker and I'm hoping the coverage will be better (than MetroPcs) especially out west

I'll update after I get it here and use it for a few days. I'll only be using it here in Florida at first so I won't be able to comment on coverage while traveling

Just a thought. I havent looked into visible but as it was said it works 80% of the places verizon works I'd venture to say the verizon phone works better is because a lot of 4G LTE verizon phones still have their old school CDMA (no sim card) technology as mine does. I use straight talk but shopped around for a good phone that is a CDMA/LTE model actually on verizon. Verizon owns the bulk of LTE towers and quite potentially ALL the CDMA towers in the country. CDMA has longer range but was always a pain to reprogram a new phone onto your service as there was no sim card to just swap over like ATT tmobile etc.

Long story short a verizon phone with both radios has more towers to choose from and inherently better coverage. My current phone works in the sticks where I am now. Att, tmobile, metro, sprint, and virgin mobile only get spotty coverage outside here. Verizon regardless of being a flip phone or smart phone gets 2-3 bars inside.

I'm presently using Straight Talk unlimited with auto-pay and with the added fees it comes to $60 per month. My cheap Samsung phone has no hotspot so I am tempted to switch to Visible.

I've been using Visible for a week now. I bought their R2 android for 99 bucks because my Samsung wouldn't have worked on their network. The phone is ok but nothing special. I'm in a mobile home (aluminum tuna can) so I never get more than 2 bars inside. Even so, I'm able to stream whatever I want to and have experienced very little buffering. Although I would rather have a better phone, I have to say the hotspot function is exceptional. It hooks up to my Roku even when I'm outside or inside 40 or so feet away. I also connect with my laptop without issue. (you can only have one device at a time connected to the hotspot).

I took it out to the Skyway bridge the other night and was able to hang out and stream video without issue. I only had two bars at the time. The bridge and the fishing piers are way out in the bay so I had to be some distance away from a cell tower. I have no clue how well it's going to work when travelling but I like what I see so far, especially for a flat 40 a month.

If I remember, I'll do another screenshot when I've used it for the whole month and have more data usage.

I’ve had Visible for a month on an iPhone and am quite pleased.
Download speed is 5mbs doesn’t seem to matter where I am and often upload is 3-5mbs. I’ve done Speedtest in a fast area and first few seconds it screams with speed then drops to 5mbs and stays. At the home with poor cellular it starts slow and works its way up to 5mbs.

Have used the hotspot to connect a Amazon Fire tablet. Works as well as the Verizon or ATT jetpacks.
Using PayPal to auto renew (auto renew required) but believe could also use a prepaid debit card. Currently I don’t see an option to do those refill cards. They sent a notification saying plan was renewed.

From what I’ve read the Visible coverage is the same as Verizon PrePaid accounts which is the same as service like StraightTalk, RedPocket, TracFone, etc. I don’t know of anything that gives you the full Verizon network with roaming except the pricey PostPaid Verizon.

For a flat $40 a month seems a good service

PrePaid Phone News just posted that Visible has started a Referral program where the ‘friend’ and new customer both get $20 off. The news post also indicated even if you did not use the Referral program a new customer got $20 off. Don’t know how you get that

I'm curious if the network is truly 100% the same as Verizon's post pay plan. I've found that a number of carriers, Verizon included, have lesser coverage for prepaid plans and some of these contractual carriers.

Glad you all are happy. I bought the R2 phone & everything worked but the phone & they have zero customer sevice. After texting from my wifes phone to send a pickup label for my trade phone which they never did & for the R2 as I think it's defective no response after 2 weeks twice a day. I paid thru paypal who refunded my $40 & blocked all new charges but really wanted this to work but it's all good till you have an issue then you're all alone.

After dealing with their totally useless customer support for 3 days for a no mobile data issue, I finally figured out what was wrong on my own.  Only one device can connect to the phone WiFi hotspot so I'm using a cheap GL.iNet GL-AR150 Mini Travel Router to handle multiple connections. So far it is working great. I'm quite pleased.

I haven't tried out its max range yet but goes over 150 ft now. I just set it up as a repeater. Don't remember how many devices I can connect to it but more than the 5 the hotspot allowed.

I just learned that the Visible SIM works in my Verizon 6620L Mifi JetPack. It was quite simple. Replace the Mifi SIM with the Visible SIM. Once powered up connect to the Mifi. Now start your browser and enter 192.168.1.1 in the address box. This will display the settings page for the Mifi. You will need to change the APN to "VSBLINTERNET". For my Mifi this is located on the "Mobile Settings" page.

This may work for other mobile broadband devices. I'm assuming that the Visible SIM needs to be activated in a compatible phone first.

I never got to the hotspot as my phone didn't work as a phone & they quit texting my wifes phone. I still think I just got a bad phone but they have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL.

Visible has announced it has removed the 5mb speed limit for a limited time. Current plan holders will keep the potential increased speed as long as they keep the service.

That can be good or not so good. Was noticing in a poor reception area that prepaid Verizon phones were Speedtest at 3.++ but the Visible was 5.++. Likewise better time of day the Verizon was 8.++ and the Visible still 5.++

I just connected my PC to the mobile hotspot on my Visible phone and got 12mbps down and 7 up. That's with 2 bars of signal. Not too shabby. I'm guessing it would be faster on a better phone or with a signal booster (or both). I bought the Visible R2 and I don't think much of the built in antenna in this phone. I'm happy with the Visible service overall.

I plugged my SIM into my 6620 today to check if the data speed is uncapped. It still works and the data is indeed uncapped.
