 :exclamation:   Safari is spending the night at the shop........I am really and truly not a happy anything now.  It was after 4pm when I called, they said they couldn't find the short and it was "all apart".  I am so upset.... it's a control thing......sometimes I just have to go.....doesn't matter where, just go down the road.  "Road Trip" and "Go" lights a shuck under Queenie!

Also there are signs all over the shop about them not being responsible for damage or theft of vehicles or property left over night.  My brother works a few blocks away so he checked it on the way home and it's sitting right on Main St.  The side street there doesn't have a lot of traffic.  I would like to know if it's locked.

Well, if I was your brother, I'd have checked that when I checked location, but I'm a bit paranoid about stuff like that, to the point i worry about other people's stuff
hopefully it's fixed quickly

If you go tow it away now , it might be real funny to see what they say when you call.............................

I called around 10am.......waiting on right size of rivets to put power window back together.........AC is charged........short in lighting system still elusive.  Supposed to have it back today.  Depending on weather I want to make a short Safari run into FL next week.........providing several things come together in time.

On the lighting shorts,  with the daytime running lights on I have left and right turn signals..........when I step on the brakes the radio display and lighting on speedometer and tranny indicator go off, then back on when the brake pedal is released.
With night headlights on right turn signal doesn't work........it's another mystery   :-/
Flashers are also eratic.

PS 1pm, not fixed.

If it was within walking distance Queenie and I would have slept in it.   Some mornings I look like 500 miles of bad road   ;)  Between Queenie Growling and me yelling WTF  when the door popped open in the AM I bet it wouldn't need another night away from home.

I have had a similar problem when an 1157 dual element bulb broke the top element and one end landed on the lower element. Those bulbs are single bulbs with running lights and turn signal / brake light circuits. When you put power to the brake circuit it seeks a ground through the running light circuit making them go on or off depending whether they have their own power. So pull out ALL dual element bulbs or unplug the light and see if radio light works normally when you hit the brakes. If it does look closely at bulbs and sockets you probably have a bad bulb or short in the socket.

Safari was dropped off here about 4:30pm.  Signals etc still Fubar until a part gets in on Mon......Tues.....?  At least it's driveable...I gots things to do at Aliner and can't sit still more than 24hrs at a time.  New drill all charged up and installing curtain rods on Safari this weekend + going thru storage unit.  I'm ordering the MinnKota AC Power Port from Walmart.com

I do intend to find out what the elec.problem was........it's been ongoing for a few yrs I found out.  My Mom doesn't drive much.  If Lon found the problem he's done way more than the guy that worked on it for my Mom.

:)  Queenie and I spent Sat. afternoon until after dark at the storage unit/s.  Had to sort/trash/shift/repack a lot of stuff to make room for the 2nd captain seat from the Safari.  Those things are HEAVY!  Finally had van empty from from back of front seats to/over the rear seat/bed.

Made Queenie a temp. seat from small tote & box supporting a board covered with a rug and one of her bed pillows on top.  She liked it as she can sit or lay there and watch out the side window.  She went from there to the rear bed and back several times. She'd go the edge and look at me until I'd say " it's OK....jump ".  She hasn't been allowed to jump up and down due to a problem with a hind leg.  She seems to have grown out of it.  I keep things low or make little steps for her.  I don't think I'll have to worry about her jumping out of the van,  just about something jumping in after her.

Did get some curtains hung temp. on clothing rod across the back door windows. Now at night except for front door windows there are shades covering all windows. I've never liked people being able to see in my vehicle unless it was/looked totaly empty.

P.S.  there is a song about Living On Tulsa Time..........I thought of it today.......seems like I'm Living On Turtle Time ;)

Max said to hurry up or Queenie won't have to worry about him being too young. :dodgy:

Jim, Queenie sez she is going as fast as her/my short legs & flat butts can!!!!

Today we had some mattress wrass-a-ling going on........... finally someone we knew came along and she coerced him into the Aliner and put him to work.  The thing is I wasn't strong enough to lift a twin sized  innerspring mattress up off it's side and raise it over the cabinets swing it around and place it on the bed platform that goes from side to side across the Aliner and deal with the slanted ceiling at the same time.

I think my grey matter is shrinking....that has to be the reason I took my new all charged up portable drill with me to work with and left the drill bits at home :-/

I'm really thinking I might be able to fulltime in the Aliner now that I have a van that is a xtra "room".........Aliner = no closets + no guest room

So we are off to McDonalds to use our BOGO promo survey code..........itsa grilled chicken bacon club with xtra grilled onions kinda nite......no onions for Queenie!

Stay Safe

:) Way back in the late '80s or early '90s while in SD working on my first old house , there was a song on the radio by the Geezenslaw Brothers......I'm White And I Can't Get Down........It always made me smile   :)

As I've aged and that bad boy Auther Ritis has moved in with me I've added a new chorous........I'm White and I Can't Get Up.....No smiles now.

Yeterday I found out my new drill was too bulky to replace the screws in the bottom hinges on the cabnet drawers. As I slid off the little ice chest/stool  I was sitting on over on to a 6in tall wooden "step" I realized that once again I had "leaped" before I thought.  So ol' bad knees and back kicked in and there are absolutely no grab bars in the Aliner    QUEENIE WAS NO HELP AT ALL!   Sooooo I just sat on the floor and scooted to the open doorway and was able to get up....finally.  From here on out I will keep my cell phone on a lower level where I can reach it.
At some point I may be the little ol' lady that really can't get up.

My oldest friend used to say " It's Hell getting old" and my reply was "The other option ain't so hot"     I watched the Geezenslaw Bros on youtube and it still makes me smile   :D

Monday hopefully the lighting system short will be found and fixed.  Next is towing the Aliner to the shop so the Safari will be wired correctly for towing it and the new helper springs will be adjusted,  I don't think these new springs are going to provide enough lift.  The Ranger sat high being 4x4 with added overload springs and it was almost level withor the Aliner hooked up just a little high in the back with no load on the Ranger or in the Aliner.....I'll have to wait and see.  Next is the MinnKota AC power port.  At least I can save some $$ by pulling the rear door panels off.  I think that's the only place a hole can be cut into the van with out worrying about interior wires and walls.

Jewellann

  Not much progress made recently.  I sent a pickup load of stuff out of my storage home with a friend.  It seems that everyday it either rains,  I feel to bad to do anything, The Safari goes to the shop and comes home in the same shape it left in.  The short in the wiring is very elusive.  They are short handed as one of the guys Mom is very ill and he's been gone for about 10 days.  I don't mind as it's not like a tranny or engine problem.

The Buddy Holly song "It's Raining in My Heart" best describes the way I feel about just about everything right now.  Oh well maybe tomorrow will be a better day........PUUUHLESE  :(

I will mail the brake controller tomorrow after my doctor visits (yay I have two). That way when you get it wired up the controller works. I can't tell you how important it is.

:) There is no rush for that right now so just send it when you can.  It will be 2 or 3 weeks before the Aliner is moved.  Then it will only be about 2 miles on side streets,  no red lights, & less traffic on a Sat. morn.  The shop is on a busy corner of Main street and The Safari + Aliner I will tow to the side street so less traffic and ez to pull in to and leave from.

Hope the DRs appts. go well.  My thoughts and well wishes go with you.

My thought was that while he (or she) untangles your wiring they could install the controller. I'll mail it tomorrow anyway.

Rob

One appt is with the shrink. After today I want her to up my Xanax.

:) Friday was good .....up to a point.   Back to the storage unit for several hours.  The first thing I do is deploy my free shade canopy.  I really really really like shade to work in   :D  Later in the day as I sat on my free lawn chair going thru boxes and totes I realized how quite it was there with the only the occasional vehicle passing by.  I said to myself "self,  isn't this nice. If we were somewhere under some trees with the Aliner and the Safari and a B-B-Q grill with a creek or lake it would be a perfect day:,

I felt calmer than I ever do in my apt.  One reason is that I'm always waiting for a knock on the door from someone { apt. maintenence or management } I have to let in for one reason or the other. ".   Twice it's been strange guys with ladders wanting in my bedroom.  Now I do know a good [IMO] joke about standing on a bucket for birth control but this ain't it.

My bedroom ceiling has the only attic access for the 4 apts. in my building.  Something I was not made aware of before I moved in. This is not good for my paranoia........especially when I'm already having a bad day. I lived with it for 7yrs now and it's time to go..............somewhere?

So 1van load to the dumpster making 3 in 2 days,  A big box of baskets, candle holders, kanick kanacks, & a nice framed mirror+picture frames to a neighbor.

When I got home there was a letter from the Housing Authority.  On March the 8th and 9th there will be approximatley 40apts. choosen at random for a HUD inspection.  You know you've won the drawing when a total stranger and a facility rep. knocks on your door.  Like I really need this crap right now

Each time I go to the storage units I have to take out stuff to get to things I haven't gone thru yet.  Then before leaving things I'm keeping or giving to family and friends has to go back in.  My apt is a total wreck because I've started going thru cabinets/closets/ dress ers/totes etc.  So I work as long as I can and then go do whatever else needs my attention or just lay down and rest. So there are keep/sell/give away stuff that I've sorted thru all over the apt.   Sooooooo I RENTED ANOTHER STORAGE UNIT :-/

There is a method to my madness.  This new one is right next to 2 other ones.......so as I sort things according to their final destination they will be placed in a certain area of the new unit.  There will be Sell, Safari/Aliner, keep, friends & family, & trade sections.  As I sort thru the other units items will either go to the dumpster, be dropped off elsewhere, or go in the new unit.  If I empty a unit during a 30 day period the unused portion of the rent for that month is credited to another unit.

I took a van load from the apt. to the new unit around 5:30pm only to find that there is something wrong with the rolling overhead door.  Queenie heard some words that usually cause her to go under the bed.  Poor baby.....then I always pet her and tell her " it's OK you are a good dog " it's the tone of voice not the words.  I even used my steel pry bar under the door and it wouldn't budge.  I know the damn thing works as I've seen at least 3 guys raise it in the last 2 days.  Anyways I managed to get the van  load of stuff jammed into 2 other units. I'll load the van again on Sun. the storage is open 7 full days a week so maybe they can fix the door or have another unit for me..........10 days to apts. inspection....WHOOPEE......YEAH RIGHT

I JUST WANT TO KNOW.......AM I HAVING FUN YET????

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND ONE AND ALL.......THERE'S A TOMBSTONE PIZZA WITH MY NAME ON IT THAT NEEDS A COOKING :D

It sounds like you're starting to have fun AND it looks like there is a bright light shining on you from the other end of that tunnel. Just stay on that path you're on and you're a gonna get there!
Ooooooooooooooooooie !

About to make another run to the storage unit.  As soon as I called with the problem of the non rolling up door, Don @ AAA Storage said he'd go right over.  Queenie and I are going on a look-see  :-/
