Trailer RV Excitement I feel like a kid

Finally the right vehicle is ours for this adventure planned for decades.  We've had 2 class B's, an Aframe, a small Winnebago MH, a trailer and the back of a pickup.  Less than a year to take off - after 50 years of wanting to do this and 10 years of downsizing I feel like it isn't real.  It can't be, it's ALWAYS so far off in the distance.  But that's not so distant now.

We brought the cargo trailer home in late April.  A lot of time was spent trying to figure out both how to insulate and what to insulate it with.  It is now 90% insulated and hubby is taking a week's vacation so we can finish this coming week with that, putting the walls up, installing the floor, making a tub enclosure (yes - 24" x 40" tub in a 7' x 16' trailer bed!), and doing all the cupboards, room walls, etc.

The build has changed so many times.  But I think the plans are good now.... yes we're good to go!

Thanks, this group can relate. It's really nice that in today's environment many can find ways to work on the road and do this early. With the jobs I had that wouldn't have worked support ways. The internet has changed a lot. The net part was good for me, I made some good money because of it but in today's world I know little compared to then. Still, it's nice to know neither of us will need to work. I've waited a long time to learn to oil paint and draw and play with metal detectors and ... and ....

We used a 24' enclosed car hauler for a "camper" for a few years (not full time). Sectioned it off with a curtain, used cots, a porta potti, a large Coleman "camp kitchen" set up to make it liveable. One of the portable AC units kept us cool in the summer and a Mr Buddy heater knocked the chill off in the winter. We're SoCal desert rats, not like it gets that cold here.

We hung some screen across the rear hatch when it was open, leveled the ramp and used it as a patio!

That's really wonderful, congrats!

I don't think a big percentage of women, even RV'ers, would be up for what you're actually looking forward excitedly to doing. Nice to see!

Bob 91 - that's so close to what we are doing! That's how we are making it lighter - less wood as we are not turning it into a "house" but more of a cabin without all thick beautiful wood and camping stuff instead. I need the ramp as it is so much better than the step and sometimes I use a walker. My walker is all-terrain so I can do a lot with it (can't hike up a mountain but can hike up plenty of trails). Also note I am a San Diego later L.A. girl so all those camping spots were my home turf. I'm 10 years now in Colorado but boy I miss California on many occasions.

I already purchased the shower rod to go across the back. I have a couple of tents with windows and screen room panels I've saved over the years - never threw out anything like that if the poles had to be tossed. I have 2 pieces of beautiful cammo forest scene heavy-duty material I bought in a surplus store back in the 90's I think, saving it for now but also saving it from John Orr - the Glendale fire department arsonist who burned the store down in his fire spree. I made windows in that a long time ago when I was going to use it for something else.

Dingfelder, thanks. I used to manage a restaurant at night and before that waitress at night. During the day in the summerI'd pack my baby and me and anything we could possibly need for the day and drive 15-20 minutes to a sandy tree-lined wash and play all day until I had to pack up, go home eat and shower and drop the kid off at the sitter and get to work. I always kept a blue plastic milk box in the livingroom closet filled with camping things and take off at a moment's notice on Friday night if someone suggested a trip. I still have that box, it's over 40 years old. I'm 66.
