Hi. Your van looks goods but no one ever takes bad pictures to sell something, Im not a big fan of 1/2 ton vans because you can easily overload them, the interior looks good, I didnt see any signs of insulation if your in a cold climate, You might take a good look under the van for major leaks or if you know a mechanic have them look at it. I am not a huge fan of vans because it limits your mobility i prefer small trailers and a tow rig because you can blend better with the sheeples {sheep people} At any rate good luck and safe travels, Peace out!!<img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" alt="" align="absmiddle" border="0" />
 
Ok point taken. Im job camping and will be renting a storage room now, so no overloading and I need to stealth. So a van it must be. Mechanic will def. be checking this out. Also a friend who should be a mechanic. My first time buying a van so Im a bit nervous.&nbsp;
 
there are a ton of old "creeper vans" out there or windowless service type vans these have come mostly from lease and rental companys if you are handy and want to do your own interior, I also work camp and windows to me are a nusance i prefer top vents and heavy insulation, I don't mean to be an old fuddy duddy but i like to give honest advice again good luck, And please never underestimate your self if you are honest with people who have skills you need most people will always help.
 
Want windows because of air. LOL Thanks anyway for your help. I am handy to a point. Going to insulate the van myself and with some help get the plywood on. But I really want a conversion van. We have so may here that I would just melt in the back ground.

IMHO it looks like a great deal. Looks like its ready to travel and the price is right! I had a '98 Chevy with an engine one size smaller. It had 264k miles on it when I sold it and was still running very strong and getting decent mpg. The one and only mechanical problem I ever had with it was water pumps. Chevys of that era seem to eat water pumps. Other than that it was awesome.

I like it, and the price! But, I don't know a lot about such things... YET! good luck in your search!
 
Seems like a good deal but buying a vehicle that low, I'd expect to have to put at least $3,000 into it. Stuff adds up quick. Shocks/suspension (ball joints etc), steering (tie rods etc), alignment, tires, brakes, air filter... etc etc.<br /><br />I had planned to have about $1500-2000 less in my van but the rear end up costing me an arm and a leg due to that POS local mechanical who cost me more than it would have otherwise if he hadn't tore into it and didn't know what he was doing.<br /><br />I'm keeping reciepts but scared to see what I am going to have in my van by the time I'm done. But I figure around $5000-6000. But... it's getting tons of high quality new parts, I'm doing as much of the labor as I can stand to do... all new tires, brakes, shocks, differential rebuilt, steering complely replaced, new ball joints, timing chain/water pump. The transmission is also brand new, put in a previous owner who sold it to the guy I bought it from.<br /><br />I paid $1300 for the whole van which is what the transmission cost last year. I got the receipt from it with the van.<br /><br />The only thing not new is the engine which burns oil but I will be using heavier oil and/or oil thickener which should help it some.&nbsp; The last oil change was 10w30 so it can definitely stand heavier oil. It runs good and strong.<br /><br />But anyhow.. if you buy a $1500 vehicle of any kind, expect at least $2000-3000 in work to be needed very soon after buying it.
