When I was a kid in the Las Vegas area in the 50's, the desert had many small abandoned shacks (10 x 15 ft. or so), built by homesteaders to establish their claims on land. It was fascinating to wander inside the shacks. They had ramshackle furniture and magazines dating back to the 1920s, preserved in good condition by the dry desert climate. Also common were rock cairns, often containing tin cans or glass jars with handwritten mining claims.highdesertranger said:that would be my guess too, 60's to 70's. the Nevada back country was a far different place back then. boy I could tell some stories. highdesertranger
