I'm way, way too old for you but wish you well in your quest.
Yes, I am! My husband is in a nursing home and I visit him every day. He is the love of my life and I am not in the market. Just making a light comment. Sorry it was misinterpreted.

Yes, we've had 38 years together, 36 in marriage and, though he doesn't always recognize me, he is still my man.

Johnny, don't mean to hijack your thread. Just clarifying some issues.

A (friendly) dog is also a great 'ice-breaker'.. don't know how many people I've met, friends I've made, just BECAUSE I have my dog. I also read a lot too. Been looking into an e-reader, or something along those lines, because of my voracious reading habits. ..Willy.

I am also a voracious reader and love 'real' books so much I thought I'd never want a kindle but my daughter gave me one for Christmas and I just love it!! The portability factor is amazing and it's much lighter than even the smallest paperback. I have a veritable library with you wherever you go and can download books from any Wifi connection.

That's the thing with living in a vehicle.. books take up space and that's at a premium. My reference books alone take up too much space and a whole bunch of library books don't make it any easier.

It's a very odd thing, but in the last 4 years I have been boondocking fulltime on public land, and in that time I have made more genuine, deep friendships than I have in my entire life. You would think being a "hermit" in the forests or desert would be very lonely, but just the opposite is true. I don't meet a lot of people, but the people I meet I make this incredibly deep connection with. Because we all travel, I don't see them that often, but the connection remains just as strong. And when we do run into each other again, it's like we were never apart. The RTR in Quartzsite is the highlight of my year because I get to see so many dear friends.

I know that isn't the same thing as finding a boyfriend or girlfriend, but it is very close. Gypsydreamer is right that physical contact is incredibly important, and friends don't meet that need, but I am never lonely anymore because i know I have so many friends and soon enough I will see them again. Bob

Bob, it makes perfect sense to me! Those we meet on the road are other lovers of the open road. So we have a bond already. And, since most of us are introverts [at least according to the Personality Test ] we know better than to intrude on someone else's space, be it physical, emotional or spiritual.

omg my entire post got deleted. ugh. nevermind lol im not going to retype that entire thing it was way too long.. so i'll just say you all have good ideas . and i'll just have to find somone whos outlook in life is the same and whos daily living is workable with mine

Ya, I had the same problem yesterday. I typed a hole speel and I lost my internet connection during it. When I tried to post it I lost it. So now if have a long post I copy it first. Then if I lose it I can just paste it in and I dont have to retype it over again.

I guess for most of us we'll just have to get our companionship when we meet on the road or at the RTR, and if I feel the need for human contact I will just shake your hand.

Ok, so long as you don't do it too vigorously

Don't worry. I will shake your hand slow.

What you don't know is that 5 mins before I did that, I watched her hug random Asian men walking out of the Pho restaurant we were meeting at for lunch and asking them if their names was Steve.

I'm totally kidding and that never happened! Katie is awesome lady and has become a very good friend to me!
