Hey Tony and Karen, is that Margie's van in front of your rig? I'm sure Jay is missed this year.

Yes, we miss both of them.  And you too!
Margie is Oregon, in the snow! She wanted to come but needed to save up some traveling money.

Tonight a fellow called Ted happened across my van in the dark as I was standing atop it with a lady friend (Sarah). He was quite taken with our silhouettes and asked to take a picture, it turned out neat.

Now I'm all curious, what are those vertical things on the side of the van??

I made a van side rack out of lumber to haul sheet goods (plywood, drywall) for work.

I can slide 14' boards inside the van and close the back doors, but can't carry sheets inside, hence the rack.

It's also designed with a space between the back of the rack and the fiberglass high top to fit an extension ladder. One might not think a van van haul a 40' extension ladder, but indeed mine can.

That's an awesome solution, like the trucks that carry glass, very cool.

Is there a thread on how you built them?  If not; could you do one at some point?  I don't have a hightop, but can see where it would be helpful on a regular van too.  I want to know how you attached the rack to the van.

Thanks
Allen

I didn't post about it when I did it, but I can put a write-up together when I have a few minutes. It was definitely a unique one.

Here are my small contribution to the 2017 photo albums.  I was only able to attend on the 14th and 15th because of other obligations, but here are the photos I took while I was there...

RTR Jan 14-15 2017

I spent a week at the RTR and had a wonderful time. I did a fun little project: shooting the various Rigs of the RTR. I've shared them here:

Rigs of the RTR

(note, if you have a really slow connection or limited data, it's probably best to wait until you're on some WIFI to view these. If your rig is pictured, and you don't want it to be, let me know and I'll remove it. I didn't ask everyone due to inconvenience and my own shyness)

Very cool! Thank you for the share!

I saw two very interesting ones in your set, the tan me with bubble sides...
And the white one with the lift up rear doors, omg! That looked very rad!
Any idea who they belonged to? I would love to see more of them, and a build set on how they were built!!!
