Quartzsite vendor question

Bob, and anyone else thats spent time shopping in Q in January.. has there been a good vendor there for 12v coolers?  considering picking one up, but if there are good prices and availability there, will just wait till I roll in come January.

Surprisingly few! You would think there would be a lot of them, but there aren't. In the big tent there was one booth with a brand i was unfamiliar with, the prices were good but not great. All in all, the prices on new items aren't all that great there. Wish I had better news. Bob

You can buy a 12v and AC re&nbsp;frig/freezer combo at CampactAppliance.com.&nbsp; The brand name is Edgestar and they have three models to choose from.&nbsp; 84 Quart, 63 Quart and a 42 Quart.&nbsp; I got the 63 qt and love it.&nbsp; I put it in the back seat of my pick up for use with 12v.&nbsp; It plugs into&nbsp;the cigarette lighter with a 6 foot electrical cord.&nbsp; At the RV park I switch over to AC.&nbsp; It has a thermostat that works good and even a fast freeze mode to bring the temp down to -8 F in&nbsp;about 40 minutes.&nbsp; It is made in China but the price is right and so far it is working good.&nbsp; I got the OPEN BOX model at a good discount&nbsp;and total price was&nbsp;$400.&nbsp; Otherwise the price is a little over $500.&nbsp; I use it as a refrigerator and haven't used it as a freezer yet.&nbsp; Only been using it for about 5 months now.&nbsp; The price for other brands is like $1400 or more.&nbsp; This is a PORTABLE unit so you can put it where ever you like.&nbsp; I use a 25 foot extension cord for AC use.&nbsp; It comes with a 8ft electrical cord as standard for AC use.&nbsp; Glad I got the 63qt model and not the big unit as it fits fine&nbsp;on the back seat.&nbsp; &nbsp;Most people get the 42qt because it is a little cheaper to buy, but the unit is almost as big as the 63qt so I figured why not get the bigger one.&nbsp; There is a video telling you all about the 63qt model on the web site.&nbsp; It has handles on the sides for carrying but only when it is empty, as the handles are plastic and will break if the unit is loaded up.&nbsp; You should use the 12v plug in the 12v accessory outlet and not the cigarette outlet I was told by a friend.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Nemo, I think the reason there isn't much of that sort of thing here in Q is because by and far and away&nbsp;the visitors here come in RVs and don't have much need for that sort of thing. But there are places in town where they will receive packages from UPS, Fed Ex, etc. So you can order something and have it delivered. If the weather were having keeps up you won't need an ice box anyway. Hope to meet you at the RTR.

I ended up getting an edgestar 63q and it's serving me well for the past month <img src="/images/boards/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"> &nbsp;though I'm having a hard time getting used to having a cooler after 3 years!<br><br><br>
