Hello Francisco!

Welcome to the FORUM...

I don't personally think of my houses as prison cells because I don't live in them. And, not all who live in houses are prisoners. Some people need a sturdy barrier against the world as it really is and bricks-n-sticks give them the security to be free... THEIR FREE.

Anyway, as for MY FREE... I am with you 100%. There is no house I want to live in and there is no thing I want to own.

Peace, Love and Group Hugs,
Bodhi

Don't know how the html codes came about but here is the edited version of this post.
-------
bodhi wrote:"Some people need a sturdy barrier against the world as it really is and bricks-n-sticks give them the security to be free... THEIR FREE."

Such is a false sense of security and freedom, and my conscience would not allow me to participate in marketing such.

However, no two raindrops, snowflakes, leaves, blades of grass,,,,,,, are the same.......

Yet?

Sadly )-; clones are produced in and of mankind's "imag"ination.......

So it is that mankind's "imag"ination is destroying the earth(air water, land, vegetation, creatures) and perverting that which is Spirit(Truth, Light, Life, Peace, Love, Faith, Grace,,,,, ALL that is Truly GOOD).

And religion and government lead the way along "the broad way to destruction" )-;

Yet such is needful for the multitudes of "disobedient and gainsaying(covetous) people"!

Peace....... francisco (came to me question, is this the bodhi of the millennial rainbow gathering at stage stop?)

What is freedom? Is freedom not an ability to choose one's own course? Some may think that freedom is living in a home where their heart is; for some that home is sticks and bricks and for others it is openness and wilderness. But what freedom is, is their ability to choose. What is good for one is not so for another. Also, just as the winds blow, so do the changes of time and of mind. What we considered freedom when we were younger becomes a prison when we are older. We only need to learn that we are our own Warden and hold the key that unlocks the prison gate that keeps us from the freedom we so desire.

Welcome to the pack Francisco.

Rae

WElcome!
Everyone's definition of what makes them happy is different.
Mine is this life I am trying to carve out. It's tough, my shower facilities are not the best, but each time I take a bath, I am still smiling. Because it is something I choose for myself.

Oddly enough, some folks won't see being trapped as you describe necessarily a bad thing for them. For some of us here, we can't stand it and yearn to be free.

In this life, there are masters, there are servants... and then there are vagabonds and pirates who call nobody their master and are servants to no one.
Yohoho... the pirate's life for me.

Hey A&P,

Welcome to the group. Glad to have you. Forgive me if I don't follow your poetic style of writing very well, a lot of my problem is that my computer browser not recognizing some symbols you use, and simpler efforts of communication seem to be better for my simple old mind.....

But none-the-less, that is just me and it is always good to see another pilgrim here.

Bri

#6

alienandpilgrim: Good question about Bodhi. I've wondered it myself.

I couldn't cypher out any meaning from the rest of your post, though. Text messaging is beyond my ken, which I suppose is the method you used to compose your post.

Best wishes to you for finding whatever you're looking for here.

I often wonder what people think freedom is as well.

I recently re-watched the documentary "Dhamma Brothers" directed by Jenny Phillips about meditation inside prison. It appears that many of the meditating brothers were considerably more free inside than many of the correction officers....

I have found that many things seem to trap us, primarily ideas of one kind or another....

I am not one who thinks anything from the outside makes us free....or there is any one moment in time where we become free. I find that for me it has been a lifelong and rigorous process to become the person I am today and as long as I live, I believe it will continue to unfold. As long as I stay willing, teachable, open-minded and courageous I move on. As soon as I tense up, refuse to let something go, start believing something outside of me will free me, I start shrinking and becoming more and more rigid....and afraid.

It doesn't do much good for me to look at others and try to decide where they are on their paths to enlightenment...

Some of the most well-adjusted, happy and fulfilled people I know, live in unpaid for houses of rentals, etc. and have loads of debt. They just don't think that where they are or what they are doing has a lot to do with their spiritual fulfillment or enjoyment of being of service to others.....

I find that traveling and especially traveling in other areas of the world have opened my eyes and heart to the millions of paths people travel and there is no one right way to or for or about anything.

Purely by the luck of the draw, most of us happen to have born and raised in a country and time where we mostly spend our time and energy worrying about trivial and silly things....we have the luxury of being able to choose whatever it is we want to do. One doesn't have to go very far at all, to find folks who are so desperately trying to find food, shelter and clean water that they think what we are doing, even on this forum, is an exercise in gross consumerism. If they had a computer, or a van, they would have a way to make enough money to feed their family...

I practice not forgetting that and offer my thanks to the Creator for this incredible good fortune of having all this at my fingertips.

Just been thinking about this a lot lately...

Peace,
Bri

Welcome, Francisco! Good to have u here!

Oh, the joy a person experiences after shedding the shackles! If everyone could just taste the freedom for a little while...he/ she would be forever changed. The mortgage market might collapse. We weren't put here to be slaves to houses, stress, valium, and debt.

V.T.

I thought everyone KNOWS what FREEDOM IS....

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose...

Right? Didn't Janis tell me that?

Sadly, because drugs had their with her, she believed death was the answer )-;

And why didn't you answer my question bodhi?

Consider why the van, computer and such like are "needful"!

And what do people today 'feed' their family?

And so-called "self sufficiency" is the clarion call for this day and age )-;

What of Creation sufficiency?

What were the needs of the indigenous peoples in times past?

Sadly )-; The multitudes have taken the bait(so-called "ease of life")!

And The LIES have been swallowed(believed)!

hook(money)
line(religion/education/media)
and sinker(progress/technology)

http://asimpleandspirituallife.blogspot.com/2012/10/taking-bait-and-lies-are-swallowed-hook.html

Peace, in spite of the dis-ease(rat-race) that is of this world....... francisco

alien and pilgrim: I can see that like myself, you are a parenthetical thinker. Makes it difficult for folks such as ourselves to communicate with other people via the written word because what we say sounds lofty, stilted and doesn't make any sense most of the time. Or comes across as not having needed to be said at all.

I feel your pain.
