I needed a shower and realized that no towel was packed! The black bag shower was sitting on the roof of the van, the water pleasantly hot, and I was ready for a good dousing. After showering, I started to grab an old shirt from the front seat to use as a towel. Then it occurred to me that there was an even better way to dry off...

The van's portable air conditioner (similar to what you see on the left) was running at the time, keeping the sleeping area at about 72 degrees. The exhaust air was venting through the hose and out the passenger's door window, through that plastic piece you see on the right.

Since the exhaust tube is flexible, similar to a clothes dryer hose, I simply took it out of the window and used the warm (almost hot) blast of air to dry the body and hair while standing outside the van. It was a perfect solution, kind of like the gym when I dry off with a hand dryer though not not enough to burn.

I'm sure the nearby neighbors (a group of a dozen or so beer drinking Generation X folks gathered in lawn chairs), were probably amused by watching the chubby guy take a black bag shower (in shorts, at least) and hose off with exhaust air... It works! No, no pictures were taken!

By the way, the A/C ran 24 x 7 (on the built in thermostat) while camping the last couple of days. By maintaining the indoor temperature at 70-74 degrees, the thermotron ran a lot cooler (38-40 degrees instead of 55-60)

For those who use shore power when camping, I think the portable a/c makes a convenient solution. It's nice to be able to use the exhaust air, too!

VT
