that last step van looks cool. got anymore pics of it?

I always crack up with these "expedition" type vehicles. like the white van above they put all this stuff on them to make them look like an "expedition" vehicle. then they put the ladder on the side or those guards on the tail lights. what happens when you stick a tree branch between the ladder/guard and the body? I have even seen some of the ladders over a window. that's a real rocket scientist there. I have actually had a tree branch break a side window and I didn't even have to help it out with a fulcrum.

all show and no go. LOL

Most professional bus mechanics have seen the folding steps that mount temporarily over the tire to make a step. It seems to me that you could use them for tables and benches as well as steps with extensions or just step on the tire to reach the roof, which as you get older is a really difficult place to reach anyway. They could possibly clip or mount to the inside wall of the van for a folding table as well. Heck I have a hard enough time keeping mirrors and antennas working and mounted on the outside. I have been thinking of putting some similar tire mounting frames on my bridging ramps which I store inside across the back and use them as tables/benches as well. If you are short on space use what you have for more than one purpose. It may be more inconvenient to use but don't put stuff where you will tear it up or loose it. The same goes for hitch racks as rear overhang is usually one of my bigger hang up areas.

He even has someone's spare door laying up against it just in case. That aluminium would look great polished up, blend right in.

GO SMALL GO FAR GO NOW!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL YOU VAN LOVING BUCK A ROO'S.  THANKS FOR CHECKING THREAD!

HOPE THIS FINDS ALL IN GOOD HEALTH AND SPIRITS ENTERING 2020!

SCHOOLIE'S - A VERY VIABLE OPTIONS FOR VAGABONDS! FOR FULL OR PART TIME IT ALLOWS
FOR AND ECONOMICAL SOLUTION FOR A SPACIOUS CAMPER.  I WOULD OPT FOR A USED 4X4
AS PICTURED NO. 1&2.  THEY CAN BE FOUND IN SKI AREAS AND IN NEW ENGLAND.  I WOULD
THINK HARD ABOUT SIZE AS A FULL SIZE BUS WOULD BE A HAND FULL IN PARKING AND SUCH
EVEN FUELING IN A QUICK STOP.  INTERNATIONAL TRUCKS ARE TOUGH, HOWEVER, I HAVE
ALWAYS HEARD PARTS AND REPAIR CAN BE MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE THAN GM AND FORD VEHICLES.

ENJOY YOUR NEW YEAR!  BE SAFE AND ENJOY OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.

Van conversions....apparently there is one born every minute and some of them are born out of the minds of the fools who are born every minute. Of course even fools sometimes do things the right way as well as the wrong way.

how are you installing a 5th wheel hitch on a van? that's impossible. well not totally impossible but you would need to cut the body off the van.

highdesertranger

That is a neat idea but looks like it might unload the rear tires during a heavy pull up hill.

HI ALL YOU VAN LOVING BUCKAROO'S  THANKS FOR CHECKING THREAD

SO WHAT METHOD OF VAGABOND WHEELS WOULD I SELECT IF STARTING OVER
ON THE VENTURE OF SEEING OUR GREAT COUNTRY.

4X4 PICKUP WITH A SLIDE IN POP TOP CAMPER.

THE REASON IS QUITE SIMPLE, THE TRUCK CAN BE REPLACED AND CAMPER
SLIDE IN TO NEW RIDE.  PLUS PICKUPS ARE THE EASIEST TO OBTAIN THE
4X4 FUNCTION, AT A REASONABLE PRICE.  DIESEL IS ALSO AN EASY OPTION
IF DESIRED.

BE SAFE AND ENJOY OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.

Your advice is invaluable. Do you have any favorite brands, models?

No, I would be buying a used truck and camper, so have never been brand conscious.  Trucks would stick with
US brands as in no where USA you will find mechanics and parts that can get you going.  Search Craigsl
list for campers saw a cream puff of pop up for super reasonable price.. Good luck
