FCC or FTC don't make charges lightly. Customers were getting cheated and now T-M is glossing over the problem. Criminal or incompetent employees, doesn't matter, customers should keep an eye on their bills.
I still am thinking of sprint. Might get a good deal while they are expanding.

Got my new Verizon phone today. It cost $40 to add my line to Wolf's Verizon account instead of the $65 tmobile was charging for my line and they did a direct swap for my tmobile phone. Coverage is great. I get ALL the data we are paying for. I should not be seeing anymore mysterious unexplainable "misc" charges like I have been seeing on my tmobile bills. The last one was $30 that one rep said was roaming charges. When I said I never authorized them, I was told that it must be an adjustment from when I reduced my gigs.

Bye bye, tmobile.

that is one thing to say about Verizon. Best coverage. Simplest to under stand bill of the bunch. Plenty of charges itemized. Expensive enough for bragging rights.

Expensive is paying for something that doesn't work as advertised.

Caseyc, :)

others, "technomadia" has done much research and has lots of information about mobile connections. Look under collections on the web blog.

Every product and service seems to have a reviewer that says they are "the best" in class, etc. JD Powers comes to mind. I don't believe a single word JD Powers says whenever they make a claim a product is best or best in class, etc. One year, JD Powers will say Ford is the best. Next year will be Hondai or Fiat, or whatever, or whoever is paying for the reviews. As for Technomadia...never heard of them. I have heard of say CNET, Engadget, or other popular tech reviewers. Not trying to discredit Technomadia in any way. Just saying that I don't give much attention to what reviewers say, especially the lesser known ones. Trust me, if I could find a way to cut my cellphone bill in half with a better alternative, I would. ;)

It was pretty easy to find out whose coverage was best out west. We had plenty of time to ask people when we traveled what would and would not work in town. Also, once we left Florida, we had plenty of first hand experience with Wolf's Verizon vs. my Tmobile. The issue with only getting 500 megs of data with the subcontractors because they consider that "roaming," while I was paying for 8 gigs, was extremely annoying. The mysterious additional "Misc." charges that no one could explain pretty much made the decision for us. I don't know about anyone else out there, but when an extra $28 shows up here and an extra $30 shows up there, and no one can tell me what it is for, I'm not staying with a company.

One thing that happened was that I now have the same problem with the family text thread that Wolf has. Tmobile has issues with group threads if some of the parties are with other carriers. It breaks the thread up into individual ones. Sometimes, it can take hours for a text to actually go thru. The problem is with Tmobile, per some of the online forums I have read. At first, Tmobile said they were working on it. Now, they seem to have given up.

So why is no one using STRAIGHT TALK with a verizon capable phone? It's still verizon. And it does have roaming on Verizon CDMA network. Only much less expensive.

Do you have Straighttalk? We never run into anyone who had it and didn't know anything about it.

I have tmobile. It's roaming is poor for connectivity. But at $30 monthly I can't complain. I use a cellphone text search tool that is better than trying to get a data connection. And I use h2o wireless as a backup for $10 every three months.

H20 is AT&T towers. So a great alternative upon demand instead of Tmobile.

If you need to have AT&T for coverage then you can get CONSUMER CELLULAR $45 or STRAIGHT TALK ON AT&T for $45.

Or if you have an old 3G only phone (iPhone 4S on CDMA Verizon) you can get RED POCKET with not much data for $20 monthly.

Redpocket CDMA is much cheaper that regular red pocket. So don't be confused by REDPOCKET gsm at more expensive costs.

So please watch this video of a person who has basically set up his use of Tmobile 4G LTE as a home network.  You could spend as little as $30 monthly.  You do need to be near a tmobile cell tower.

You could replicate this in your van-RV-car.

1)  5Gigs of data limit per month at 4GLTE speed (typically 10GB speed test result download).
2)  The tmobile simm cards work in android phones.  Cost is $30 per month. (simm cards are a penny if you order through a referal link)
3)  Yes you need some routers that will throttle your bandwidth (that use the tomato third party OS on the router).  This is to stop Tmobile from throttling you.
4)  One movie is 1GB usually streamed via Netflix as an SD quality movie.  Dont use HD as that just means more of your monthly data allotment used up.

check your link as it shows video not avail.  but thanks I will google.  :D

Walmart has a <$30/month "unlimited" plan they are pushing that uses tmobile. Has a cap on 4g usage.

The terms of service are against SUPREME COURT decision. Think you are referring to TETHERING without paying a fee. Verizon got into trouble a couple years ago, and to satisfy the Supreme Court ruling they made tethering no cost on all their accounts. You buy the data, you get to do what you want, on verizon.

Yes I know many will just say NO TETHERING without paying. Yes you are at risk to have your $30 per month account terminated. Where you only get 5gigs data.

*******

Would like the discussion to focus on low cost 4G LTE data distribution.  Whatever is within TOS as vetted through Supreme Court rulings. If that's possible.

I have to call Verizon, as of today on my 1 year old Samsung Galaxy S4 the option to turn on the hotspot still brings up a message to get a subscription.
So very interesting about the post above.

As someone with T mobile, be careful. They have good data service in the middle of the city, but on the outskirts they consider 2mbps speeds "high speed 4G LTE", but it's so slow. Can't even stream 720p with it. :( Gonna have to move the RV into a park further into town (which means more traffic, boo) to get better speeds. I have unlimited, and it is my main source of data. I have poured about 40GB into it this cycle (from the 23rd to now) and though nice, it can still be a headache.

They also don't tell you about the random data drops every now and then, causing you to restart your phone to refresh it (which I've had to do with 4 separate phones now, including: S2, S4, Nexus 5 and Note 4).

So it's a good price, but it comes with its quirks!
